Manny Machado (knee) ran sprints again Tuesday.
Machado did three 90-foot sprints and then three more at 180 feet. He's expected to run the bases on Wednesday and could be cleared to begin playing in extended spring training games by the weekend. Machado is likely to join the Orioles' active roster in early May.

In addition to running six 90-foot sprints on Monday, Manny Machado (knee) took four at-bats in a simulated game.
The good news keeps pouring in for Machado, who is beginning to ramp things up in his rehab from knee surgery. He's expected to do sprints from 180 feet tomorrow and could possibly run the bases. Of course, that will be his most important test yet. If he can make it through without any issues, extending spring training games should come next.

Manny Machado (knee) is scheduled to run sprints from 180 feet on Tuesday.
Machado ran six 90-foot sprints on Monday and is ready to take the next step. There's a chance he could run the bases tomorrow and play in some extended spring training games by the end of the week. He would need about two or three extended spring training games before going out on an official minor league rehab assignment. He still has some hurdles to cross, but a return in the early part of May sounds feasible.

Manny Machado (knee) ran six 90-foot sprints on Monday.
Machado was cleared for running Sunday after taking six stationary at-bats in a simulated game on Saturday. The young third baseman is now making significant progress in his rehabilitation from October knee surgery and should be able to join the Orioles' active roster around early May if he avoids further setbacks.

Manny Machado (knee) took six at-bats in a simulated game on Saturday and reported feeling good.
It was his first taste of live action since undergoing surgery last October to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee. Machado has been cleared to begin running sprints on Monday and appears on track for an early-May return to the Orioles' active roster.

Manny Machado (knee) will take two simulated at-bats during an extended spring training game Saturday.
It's the first time he's participated in any game action since last October's surgery to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee. Machado has yet to resume running the bases, which will be a bigger step than the hitting. The Orioles haven't placed a timetable on Machado's return, but he seems unlikely to be back before the end of the month.

Manny Machado (knee) hasn't resumed running the bases.
Machado, who is making his way back from surgery to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee, had to be shut down briefly in March due to scar tissue in the knee. He's currently running on a treadmill in a pool at the team's complex in Sarasota, Florida, but the Orioles aren't going to rush him back. There's no clear timetable for his return, but there's still a chance we could see him in the early part of the season if he can avoid setbacks.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter announced Sunday that Manny Machado (knee, calf) will begin the season on the disabled list.
While he was able to run for the second straight day on Sunday, he is still a few weeks away from returning to the O's lineup. All things considered, he'll still be back relatively quickly from October surgery to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee. Ryan Flaherty is expected to cover third base for the first few weeks of the season.

Manny Machado (knee) ran on Saturday and will do so again on Sunday.
The physical restrictions have been lifted from Machado, but the Orioles will ramp his work up judicially. Machado is still slowed from October surgery to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee, but his surgeon is optimistic that the knee can handle physical stress. Fantasy owners will have to continue to be antsy about the situation, as Opening Day remains in doubt.

Manny Machado (knee) said Saturday that he still isn't ready to play in games just yet.
While he no longer has any physical restrictions on what he's able to do, he hasn't run in awhile and still needs to get his speed back up. Opening Day remains in question for the young third baseman.
