Manny Machado will undergo reconstructive surgery on his left knee.
Machado received two opinions on his knee last month and decided at that time to rest and rehab rather than go under the knife. However, his MRI results were then sent to multiple other doctors, and it was ultimately decided that he's better off going ahead and having the operation. He'll need 4-6 months of rehab, which means it's possible he might not be ready for the start of the season. At the very least, he'll be brought along very slowly in spring training.

Manny Machado (knee) received a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on Monday and will rest and rehab rather than undergo surgery.
This confirms the diagnosis from team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens last week. Machado has a torn medial patellar ligament in his left knee and will require 6-8 weeks of rehab, but the expectation is that he'll be fine for spring training.

Manny Machado (knee) will receive a second opinion on Monday.
Orioles team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens has diagnosed Machado with a torn medial patellar ligament in his left knee, and the club is confident the second opinion will say the same. If that's the case, Machado will rehab the knee for the next 6-8 weeks before trying to do some running.

Orioles placed 3B Manny Machado on the 60-day disabled list with a torn medial patellar ligament in his left knee.
Machado suffered that injury on Monday afteroon in Tampa Bay and has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season. He's expected to resume running in 6-8 weeks and should be ready for the start of spring training in 2014.

Manny Machado will be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks after being diagnosed with a torn medial patellar ligament in his left knee.
All things considered, it's great news, as Machado's ACL and MCL are intact. He'll be allowed to resume light running in 6-8 weeks and is expected to be fine for spring training. Machado's 2013 campaign ends on a sour note, but the 21-year-old still put up a solid .283/.314/.432 batting line with 14 homers, 71 RBI and 51 doubles.

Manny Machado is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left knee at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Machado was carted off the field Monday with a left knee injury and underwent X-rays at the stadium, but results weren't immediately known Monday due to a glitch. We should know more about his status following the MRI, but he's expected to miss the rest of the season at the very least.

Manny Machado will undergo an MRI on his left knee on Tuesday in Baltimore.
He already had an X-ray, but the results of that exam are not yet known. Machado was injured when his knee buckled as he crossed first base Monday, and there's a good possibility that the ailment is serious. The Orioles aren't ready to rule him out for the season yet, but they seem likely to officially do that Tuesday.

Manny Machado left Monday's game against the Rays with an apparent injury to his left knee.
It was an ugly scene in Tampa Bay, as Machado's knee buckled awkwardly after he stepped on the first base bag following an infield single. He immediately grabbed at his leg in pain and had to be carted off the field. It certainly had the look of a serious injury, but the Orioles should pass along more information soon.
