Dr. Neal ElAttrache lifted all physical restrictions related to Manny Machado's reconstructive knee surgery. ElAttrache performed Machado's October surgery to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee and has monitored him since. "He looks better every time I see him," ElAttrache said. "His kneecap is tracking normally, his muscle girth is almost the same as his opposite leg and his level of function exceeds where we thought he'd be at this point." Machado is no sure thing to start the season on the Opening Day roster, but his odds improved today.

Manny Machado (knee) is scheduled to be evaluated in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. He'll only miss one day of camp, as a red eye flight has already been scheduled. Machado hasn't been able to run for nearly a week due to scar tissue in his surgically-repaired left knee. He still hopes to play on Opening Day, but that's probably a long shot.

Manny Machado (knee) expects to resume running within the next few days. Machado hasn't been able to run for nearly a week due to scar tissue in his surgically-repaired left knee. His scheduled visit with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Tuesday had reportedly been postponed by Machado thinks he could still be checked out that day or shortly after. He's not giving up the idea of being ready for Opening Day, but that might be a long shot at this point.

Manny Machado hasn't been able to run the past five days due to scar tissue in his knee. O's manager Buck Showalter said it's something that was expected in Machado's situation, but any setbacks at this stage put his availability for Opening Day in serious jeopardy. He had been scheduled to visit Dr. Neal ElAttrache for a checkup on March 18, but that date will now be pushed back.

Manny Machado (knee) will do some sliding drills next week before getting a checkup with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on March 18. The sliding and running the bases will be the biggest tests for Machado's surgically-repaired left knee. The third baseman is hoping to receive clearance for all baseball activities when he visits Dr. ElAttrache. Machado remains hopeful of being ready for Opening Day, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the Orioles play it safe and start him on the DL.

Manny Machado (knee) is tentatively scheduled to have a follow-up exam with his surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache on March 18. Machado could receive full clearance for baseball activities at that time. The 21-year-old hasn't had any issues with his surgically-repaired knee this spring and can do most of the drills in O's camp, but he still needs to run the bases at full speed and begin sliding. Opening Day isn't the be-all and end-all, so early-to-mid April appears more realistic.

Manny Machado (knee) will meet with his surgeon on March 15 and hopes to be cleared to play in Grapefruit League games. Machado is already able to perform most of the drills in O's camp, but he's not sliding or running the bases yet at full speed. The young infielder underwent surgery last October for a torn medial patellar ligament in his left knee and is questionable for Opening Day. He told USA Today's Bob Nightengale on Thursday that he hopes to be ready for major league games around early-to-mid April.

Manny Machado (knee) has been cleared to perform all drills other than running the bases and sliding. Machado won't be cleared to run the bases until mid-March. If everything goes according to plan, the young infielder should still have time to get ready for Opening Day. However, there's obviously a long way to go before that comes to fruition. Machado is recovering from surgery to repair a torn medial patellofemoral ligament in his left knee.

Stephania Bell of ESPN.com reports that Manny Machado (knee) has been cleared to begin some baseball activities. The dynamic 21-year-old can begin hitting, running and fielding ground balls. While there is still no definitive timetable for his return, it's looking more and more likely that he will be in the lineup for the O's on Opening Day.

Manny Machado (knee) is expected to be cleared for baseball activities this weekend. Machado reportedly received good news during a checkup earlier this month, but he's scheduled for another exam this weekend. Opening Day appeared at risk when the 21-year-old underwent surgery back in October, but the latest word is that he's 6-8 weeks ahead of schedule. There should be more clarity on his status in the days ahead, but things are looking good right now.
