Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with a double in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays. He also made a pair of fine defensive plays at third base. Machado entered Friday's action with just one hit in his last 20 at-bats, so this was nice to see. He'll have to serve a suspension at some point soon, but fantasy owners will have to hope that Friday's performance is a sign of things to come.

Manny Machado is in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox. He'll bat second against right-hander Brandon Workman. Machado was handed a five-game suspension from MLB for his actions over the weekend against the Athletics, but he will remain in the lineup for the Orioles until his appeal is heard.

MLB suspended Manny Machado for five games and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions during Sunday's game against the Athletics. As expected. Machado intends to appeal the suspension, so he'll continue to be active for now. A's left-hander Fernando Abad did not receive a suspension from MLB for throwing at Machado prior to the bat-tossing incident, but he has been fined.

Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports hears that MLB will suspend Manny Machado for five games for his actions during Sunday's game against the Athletics. A suspension was expected after Machado appeared to purposely toss his bat into the playing field on a swing and a miss on Sunday. Still, it seems relatively light given that he could have seriously hurt someone with his reckless behavior. The 21-year-old has apologized for his actions, but Brown hears that he intends to appeal the suspension.

Orioles executive VP of baseball operations Dan Duquette told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal on Tuesday that he hasn't ruled out a possible demotion for Manny Machado. Putting aside his actions over the weekend against the Athletics, Machado has struggled since returning from knee surgery, batting just .229/.283/.336 with four home runs and 11 RBI over 35 games. Duquette hopes he'll be able to work through his issues in the majors, but he won't rule out a demotion if it continues. "That's always an option," said Duquette. "The guy distinguished himself in the big leagues last year. We'd much rather see him develop his skills here. But that's always an option." Machado is expected to receive a suspension from MLB, possibly as soon as Tuesday.

Manny Machado was ejected from Sunday's game against the Athletics in the eighth inning after he swung and missed at a pitch and threw his bat in the direction of third base. Machado has been instigating trouble all series after being the victim of what he thought was a hard tag from Josh Donaldson in the first game. After hitting A's catcher Derek Norris with a couple of backswings earlier in the game, Machado seemed to take exception to Fernando Abad coming inside to him, and both benches eventually emptied. While he's an amazing young talent, perhaps Machado's maturity level could still use a bit of work.

Manny Machado launched his fourth home run of the season in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Athletics. His solo blast off southpaw Tommy Milone gave the Orioles a brief 3-2 advantage in the fifth inning, but that would end up being the extent of their offense for the night. Machado finished the game 2-for-4, and is hitting .400 (10-for-25) with two homers and six RBI in his last six games.

Manny Machado slugged a grand slam in the Orioles' 9-4 defeat of the Astros on Sunday in Houston. Machado had been in a deep slump -- and his overall batting line is still just .230/.285/.327 -- so that bases-loaded blast in the top of the sixth inning probably felt pretty good. He also doubled in the game. The 21-year-old is capable of getting hot in a hurry.

Manny Machado had another rough night at the plate in Friday's loss to the Astros, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. The disappointing effort drops Machado to a meager .210/.263/.276 through his first 26 games. While the 21-year-old still has enormous offensive potential, fantasy owners may want to wait until he starts showing signs of life offensively before trusting him in lineups on a regular basis.

Manny Machado will hit seventh in Thursday's game against the Astros. This is the first time that Machado has been seventh or lower in the order since the end of the 2012 season, his first in the majors. It's understandable, as the 21-year-old is batting just .224/.280/.296 since coming off the DL. Ryan Flaherty will slide into the No. 2 spot Thursday.
