Tomlin (shoulder) will make a rehab start Friday at Double-A Akron, the Associated Press reports.
The 30-year-old has been on the disabled list since undergoing shoulder surgery in April. There is not an obvious point of entry for Tomlin into the Indians' starting rotation, and he still has to make it through a few rehab starts before he could be activated in the second half.

Tomlin (shoulder) is closing in on a minor league rehab assignment, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Since early March, Tomlin has been tending to a sore right shoulder, which eventually required surgery to remove debris from the AC joint. He was given a prognosis of 3-to-4 months, but after fitting in some long toss in early June, he's progressed to the point of minor league appearances. He's still in line to return to the Indians by the long end of the aforementioned recovery timeline.

Tomlin (shoulder) has been throwing long toss at the Indians' spring training facility in Arizona, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.
Tomlin opened the season on the DL after undergoing surgery on the AC joint of his throwing shoulder back on April 8. He appears to be progressing well from the procedure, and he'll be evaluated by team doctors later next week to determine if he's ready to begin throwing off a mound again. The right-hander is targeting a return from the disabled list at some point in the second half of the season.

Tomlin (shoulder) was was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Friday.
Given that he's not expected to be ready before the All-Star break, Tomlin was inevitably going to be moved to the 60-day DL. Friday's transaction allows the Indians to place Jerry Sands on the 40-man roster, providing insurance for Michael Brantley (back).

Tomlin (shoulder) had successful surgery Wednesday and the Indians are hopeful he'll be able to return at some point in the second half of the season, MLB.com reports.
Tomlin's original diagnosis was going to have him sidelined for 3-4 months and that diagnosis still stands. Expect him back at the All Star break in a best case scenario.

Tomlin (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, Joe Reedy of FOX Sports Ohio reports.
Odd that Tomlin was only placed on the 15-day disabled list, given that he's expected to miss three-to-four months. The right-hander will likely be transferred to the 60-day disabled list within the next week or two, as he's set to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove debris from the AC join of his throwing shoulder.

Tomlin will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove debris in the AC joint of his throwing shoulder next Wednesday, and it will hold him out three-to-four months, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Tomlin lost out on a rotation spot to begin the season, but would likely have been one of the top candidates to fill a void if an injury occurred. While that could be the case once he returns, that will now be at least midway through the season.

Tomlin was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
Tomlin was a candidate to fill one of two open rotation spots, but the Indians will send him to Triple-A and go forth with Zach McAllister and T.J. House. Tomlin is a leading candidate to be called up at some point this season after tossing 104.0 innings (25 appearances) for the Indians in 2014.

Tomlin allowed nine hits and two runs in four-plus innings Wednesday.
Tomlin's rotation bid got a slight boost with Shawn Marcum and Bruce Chen removed from the equation but he's still third behind Zach McAllister and Danny Salazar in what seems to be a three-way battle for the last spot. He seems likely ticketed to Triple-A to start the season at this point.

Tomlin (shoulder) breezed through two scoreless innings of relief Saturday, striking out four and allowing just one hit.
Tomlin had his last start scrubbed due to a balky shoulder and is slightly behind the other starters as a result but it was a positive step forward Saturday. He's looking to win a spot at the back end of the Cleveland rotation this spring.
