Tomlin (shoulder) threw a side session Thursday that went as planned, and he is scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Dodgers, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Tomlin took a few days off after an ultrasound revealed inflammation in his shoulder. The issue appears to have been minor, however, as he is in line to pitch Sunday. Assuming everything goes off without a hitch, Tomlin should be good to go for the start of the regular season.

Tomlin won't throw for a few more days after an ultrasound revealed inflammation around the bursa sac on the AC joint in his shoulder, MLB.com reports. "I just think it makes sense now, as opposed to maybe when he gets stretched out to six innings, to take a blow, because this is something we can knock out and then he's good to go," manager Terry Francona said.
Tomlin should have plenty of time to work his way back into the battle for the fifth starter spot if he's able to put this behind him in the coming days.

Tomlin has his scheduled appearance Sunday pushed back a couple of days due to a sore shoulder, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. "We're going to give him two or three days. He could very well pitch through it with no ramifications, but I don't think anyone thinks that makes a lot of sense," manager Terry Francona said.
Tomlin's in camp looking to emerge from a crowded pack to grab the fifth spot in the Cleveland rotation. His balky shoulder shouldn't impact his chances in a negative way if he can get back on the mound as planned later this week.

Tomlin's in camp fighting for the fifth starter spot but also has a pair of minor league options left so he'll need to impress to emerge from a crowded pack at the back of the Cleveland rotation. T.J. House, who is competing for a rotation spot as well, followed Tomlin with two scoreless innings in his spring debut.

Tomlin was placed on the paternity list Sunday.
Tomlin will take a few days off for the birth of a child. Zach McAllister was called up to take his roster spot, but with September and expanded rosters just a day away, a roster move won't be required when he returns.

Tomlin tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in Game 2 of the Indians' twin bill with the Diamondbacks, but didn't factor into the decision. He surrendered four hits and no walks and struck out four.
Tuesday's rainout allowed Tomlin to move back to the rotation from a bullpen, but his strong effort went unrewarded by his hitters, who were similarly quieted by opposing starter Andrew Chafin. Tomlin is expected to head back to the bullpen after the outing, with T.J. House on track to reclaim his rotation spot.

Tomlin will get an unexpected start Wednesday in the second half of the Indians' doubleheader against the D-Backs, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.
T.J. House was scheduled to take the mound Tuesday, but that game was rained out and will be made up Wednesday, and with the extra day of rest, Tomlin will get the start. He hasn't been very productive this season, posting a 4.68 ERA with 83 strikeouts in 92.1 innings, but the Indians decided he was the best option. Look for House to help out as a reliever if Tomlin struggles early.
