According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, the Red Sox are "very much in" the running for Jake Peavy.
Reports on Sunday pegged the A's as the favorite, but things move quickly during trade season. Peavy, 32, has posted a 4.28 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76/17 K/BB ratio in 80 innings this summer for the last-place White Sox. He is also drawing interest from the Cardinals, Rangers and Orioles. The Braves were linked at one point as well.

Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times hears that the Athletics, followed by the Rangers, are the favorites to trade for Jake Peavy.
Peavy is currently slated to start on Tuesday for the White Sox, but it would be a surprise at this point if that happens. Multiple reports have indicated that the A's appear to have emerged as the favorites to land the righty, but it's a bit surprising to hear that the Rangers might be next in line given that they've already picked up Matt Garza.

Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com reports that the Athletics are "in front" in the bidding for Jake Peavy.
ESPN's Buster Olney also offered a guess Sunday that the A's would wind up with the right-hander. Oakland is deep with starters and has Brett Anderson coming back from the DL in a few weeks, but they could view Peavy as someone that might put them over the top. Peavy is making $14.5 million in 2013 and 2014 and has a $15 million player option for 2015.

ESPN's Jim Bowden reports that the Cardinals "continue their pursuit" of Jake Peavy and Alexei Ramirez.
Bowden says that the names of Carlos Martinez, Joe Kelly and Kolten Wong have been discussed as possible pieces that could head to the White Sox in a potential deal. Peavy is making $14.5 million in 2013 and 2014 and has a $15 million player option for 2015. Ramirez is earning $7 million this year and is owed a guaranteed $20.5 million through 2015.

The Orioles are one of the teams that are in on White Sox' starter Jake Peavy, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Heyman notes that the Orioles showed their seriousness when they made a move for Francisco Rodriguez earlier in the week, so it's not out of the question that they'd madke a move for the 32-year-old. The Red Sox, Cardinals, Dodgers, Braves, Reds and Rangers are also said to be interested in the right-hander.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes the Braves trading for Jake Peavy is a "legit possibility."
The Braves are also after Bud Norris, as they're in the market for rotation help following the injury to Tim Hudson. Brandon Beachy (elbow) is expected to be activated next week, but the club hasn't been happy with Kris Medlen's recent performance and appears eager to move him to the bullpen.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Mariners had "high-level scouts" at Jake Peavy's start Thursday.
Morosi also notes that the M's also scouted the Padres-Brewers series this week. It appears that, despite being 10 games out of first place and 7.5 back in the Wild Card standings, that Seattle might be buyers at the trade deadline.

With plenty of scouts in attendance, Jake Peavy pitched pretty well against the Tigers Thursday, allowing four runs over seven innings in a 7-4 victory.
The right-hander allowed just four hits, issued two free passes and struck out seven. The three longballs served up wasn't encouraging, but, overall, it was a solid showing in a tough matchup. Peavy holds a 4.15 ERA and 10/2 K/BB ratio over two starts since being activated from the disabled list. He's currently slated to start next Tuesday in Cleveland, though there's a good chance he's traded before then.

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Red Sox, Cardinals, Dodgers, Braves, Orioles, Reds and Rangers are scouting Jake Peavy's start Thursday vs. Detroit.
It's a tough matchup for the veteran right-hander, but it should provide those scouts from contending teams with a nice look at Peavy's ability to navigate a dangerous lineup. Peavy, 32, has a 4.19 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 69/15 K/BB ratio in 73 innings this season with last-place Chicago. He's highly likely to be moved next week.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Athletics "could emerge as a player" for Jake Peavy.
The A's rotation is pretty well-stocked, and they should get Brett Anderson (foot) back sometime next month. Still, that hasn't stopped general manager Billy Beane from pursuing an upgrade, as he also got involved in talks for Matt Garza at the last minute. The Red Sox and Cardinals have also been connected to Peavy.
