Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com reports that the Athletics are "in front" in the bidding for Jake Peavy. ESPN's Buster Olney also offered a guess Sunday that the A's would wind up with the right-hander. Oakland is deep with starters and has Brett Anderson coming back from the DL in a few weeks, but they could view Peavy as someone that might put them over the top. Peavy is making $14.5 million in 2013 and 2014 and has a $15 million player option for 2015.
