Jake Peavy (rib) threw 76 pitches in a four-inning simulated game Tuesday.
Assuming Peavy responds well, he will make a rehab start Sunday with Double-A Birmingham. This would put him on track to rejoin Chicago's rotation after the All-Star break. The veteran right-hander has been sidelined since June 4 with a left rib fracture.

Jake Peavy (rib) could make his first minor league rehab start Sunday.
That's assuming he makes it through a simulated game Tuesday with no issues. Peavy has been out for a month with a non-displaced fracture in his rib cage, but he should rejoin Chicago's rotation right after the All-Star break barring setbacks.

Jake Peavy (rib) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Tuesday.
Peavy threw a bullpen session Tuesday for the first time since a rib fracture and is now ready to make the next step. The veteran right-hander said it's possible that he could rejoin Chicago's rotation without a rehab start. Barring any setbacks, look for him to return around the All-Star break.

Jake Peavy (rib) threw a bullpen session Tuesday.
It wasn't a full effort session, but it's nonetheless the first time he's been on a mound since fracturing a rib. White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said afterwards that the session was "better than I thought it was going to be." Peavy is slated for another bullpen session on Friday. The Palehose are hoping to get him back around the All-Star break.

Jake Peavy (rib) played catch on Wednesday.
Peavy threw at a distance of around 75 feet for a total of seven minutes. It's a nice first step for the veteran right-hander, who suffered a non-displaced fracture in his rib cage earlier this month. He is expected to be ready shortly after the All-Star break.

Jake Peavy (rib) is hoping to resume running and throwing this week.
Peavy to this point has been limited to stretching exercises and riding a stationary bike. Recovering from a non-displaced fracture in his rib cage, he is hoping to rejoin the White Sox' rotation around the All-Star break.

Jake Peavy (rib) spent 30 minutes on a stationary bike on Thursday and reported feeling fine.
It was his first conditioning workout of any kind since he was placed on the disabled list June 6 with a non-displaced fracture in his rib cage. "A step in the right direction," Peavy said Thursday. "It was fun to be active again after not being able to do anything for two weeks." He is aiming for a mid-July return.

Jake Peavy (rib) has yet to be cleared for conditioning work.
Peavy landed on the disabled list earlier this month due to a non-displaced fracture in his rib cage. While the veteran right-hander is still in shut-down mode, he hopes to ride a stationary bike soon. He could go for an MRI in about a week, after which he could be cleared for more activities. Either way, he's unlikely to rejoin the White Sox until after the All-Star break.

White Sox placed RHP Jake Peavy on the 15-day disabled list with a non-displaced fracture in his rib cage.
Peavy will be shut down for the next 4-6 weeks and could struggle to return to Chicago's starting rotation before the All-Star break. The 32-year-old right-hander has posted a 4.30 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 66/15 K/BB ratio in 67 innings this season. He will be missed.

An MRI taken Wednesday on Jake Peavy's left rib cage showed a non-displaced fracture.
Peavy will need at least 4-6 weeks of rest, which is awful news for the fourth-place White Sox. The 32-year-old right-hander suffered the rib fracture last week and then aggravated it Tuesday night in his start against the Mariners. Hector Santiago will presumably return to Chicago's starting rotation.
