Jake Peavy left the Red Sox' spring training complex on Friday with his right wrist and right ring finger wrapped in a bandage. It's something to keep an eye on, but Peavy insisted it was nothing. The veteran right-hander is coming off a season where he posted a 4.17 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 121 strikeouts over 144 2/3 innings for the White Sox and Red Sox.

Jake Peavy is available out of the bullpen for Game 5 of the World Series against the Cardinals on Monday. With their ace Jon Lester on the hill, the Red Sox are hoping they won't need him. Peavy started Game 3 of the World Series on Saturday and is currently lined up for a potential Game 7 on Thursday.

Jake Peavy allowed two runs on six hits over four innings of a no-decision against the Cardinals in Game 3 on Saturday. Peavy labored in the first inning, allowing four of his six hits and both runs as the game threatened to get away from him. But he got out of the inning and settled down, allowing just two hits and a walk over the next three innings. He was at 64 pitches when he was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the top of the fifth inning. Peavy did a good job of limiting the damage, but he's now allowed 10 earned runs over 12 2/3 innings this postseason. He'll likely be the starter for a potential Game 7 on Thursday, should the series last that long.

Jake Peavy will start Game 3 of the World Series. And it will be Clay Buchholz in Game 4. Peavy was shelled for seven earned runs in just three innings in the only ALCS start he made. He will look to right the ship Saturday night at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Red Sox manager John Farrell declared Saturday that Jake Peavy is available out of the bullpen for Saturday's Game 6 of the ALCS against the Tigers. Peavy was knocked around during his only start in the series, but tossed only 65 pitches after lasting just three-plus innings. Peavy has made one relief appearance in his career, allowing just one hit and fanning seven over four shutout innings with the White Sox in 2011.

Jake Peavy allowed seven runs in three-plus innings in a loss to the Tigers on Wednesday. Peavy had a good outing against the Rays in the Division Series but couldn't replicate that success in his next start. Things unraveled quickly for the right-hander in the second inning, as nine men came to the plate in the Tigers' five-run outburst. Peavy allowed two more baserunners in the fourth without recording an out before exiting, and both came around to score as well. The start will likely be his only one in the ALCS.

Jake Peavy lasted just 5 2/3 innings but held the Rays in check Tuesday, yielding just one run on five hits in the 3-1 victory. Peavy cruised through five scoreless frames but ran into some trouble in the sixth, giving up a double and then an RBI single. He retired the next batter, but Red Sox manager John Farrell decided it was time to go to the bullpen at that time. It wound up looking smart after the club's relievers put up 3 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just one baserunner. The Red Sox will begin the ALCS against either the Tigers or A's on Saturday, with Jon Lester getting the ball.

Jake Peavy and Clay Buchholz will throw simulated games Monday. This virtually assures that Jon Lester will start Game 1 of the ALDS while John Lackey will get the ball in Game 2. Peavy or Buchholz should follow.

Jake Peavy allowed three runs over seven innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Wednesday. Peavy struck out eight in the outing, giving up six hits and a walk. The eight strikeouts were the most in a start since he was traded to the Red Sox at the deadline. Despite the quality start, he was unable to pick up his 12th win. He's got another tough task next week when the Red Sox travel to to Coors Field to take on the Rockies.

X-rays on Jake Peavy's right wrist came back negative. Peavy was hit by a comebacker in Thursday's game. The right-hander has the wrist wrapped and could have to deal with some swelling, but he's expected to be fine for his next start.
