Jake Peavy surrendered four runs in six-plus innings Thursday against the Yankees.
It was two runs through six innings, but manager John Farrell sent him back out for the seventh after 105 pitches. That quickly proved to be a mistake, as the first two batters reached against him. What had been a 7-2 lead turned into an 8-7 deficit by inning's end, and Peavy's streak of four straight quality starts was ruined.

Jake Peavy held the White Sox to two runs in seven innings Saturday in a 7-2 Red Sox victory.
Peavy allowed just five hits and fanned four. He has been sharp in four straight starts for the Red Sox and is going to play a major role in whatever happens down the stretch in the American League East. The right-hander will take on the rival Yankees next week.

Jake Peavy gave up just one run in a complete game effort against the Dodgers on Sunday night.
He allowed three hits, one walk, and finished with five strikeouts. Peavy continues to pitch effectively since coming over at the trade deadline and has given up two or fewer runs in four of his last five outings. His lone mistake came on a home run to Adrian Gonzalez in the fourth inning. Peavy's next start is scheduled for Saturday against the White Sox.

Jake Peavy lasted just 5 2/3 innings on Tuesday, but he gave up only one run on five hits against the Giants.
Peavy struck out four and walked one in the no-decision. He didn't allow a homer for the second consecutive start, nice to see after the veteran gave up at least one round-tripper in all seven starts between May 25-August 9. Peavy remains 9-5 to go with a 4.25 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 103 2/3 innings for both the White and Red Sox this year.

Jake Peavy was charged with two earned runs over six-plus innings Wednesday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
The runs were originally unearned, but then a Will Middlebrooks error to start the seventh was changed to a hit for Jose Bautista. That was a hometown call -- it was an error all of the way -- and Peavy should have finished his night with at least 6 1/3 scoreless innings. The loss, on the other hand, was inevitable, as the Red Sox scored just once all night.

Jake Peavy was hammered in Friday's no-decision against the Royals, allowing six runs on 10 hits over five-plus innings of work.
Peavy walked one in the ballgame and failed to record a strikeout. Alex Gordon and Justin Maxwell each tagged him for solo homers in the early innings. Peavy now sports a 4.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 83/20 K/BB ratio through 92 innings. He'll attempt to get back on track when he takes on the Blue Jays in Toronto on Thursday.

Jake Peavy won his Red Sox debut on Saturday after holding the Diamondbacks to two runs in seven innings.
Peavy got a standing ovation from the Fenway Park crowd when he made his exit in the eighth inning. He scattered four hits and two walks while striking out seven. The 32-year-old right-hander should be great for Boston down the stretch. He gets the Royals in KC next.

Jake Peavy will make his debut with the Red Sox on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Peavy was acquired from the White Sox earlier this week in a three-team deal with the Tigers. He'll carry a 4.28 ERA and 76/17 K/BB ratio over 80 innings into the start. Trading U.S. Cellular Field for the hitter-friendly ballparks of the AL East are somewhat of a wash, but he should get a slight boost in fantasy value with a better offense behind him.

Red Sox acquired RHP Jake Peavy from the White Sox and RHP Brayan Villarreal from the Tigers in a three-team deal; White Sox acquired OF Avisail Garcia from the Tigers and RHP Francellis Montas, RHP Jeffrey Wendelken and shortstop Cleuluis Rondon from the Red Sox; Tigers acquired SS Jose Iglesias from the Red Sox.
One can argue about how much good Peavy will really do the Red Sox, but the price is right. Iglesias was never going to keep hitting like this, and while he should make it as a long-term shortstop, he's not likely to be an above average regular. Peavy, who is making $14.5 million this year and next, was 8-4 with a 4.28 ERA and a 76/17 K/BB ratio in 80 IP for the White Sox. He missed time earlier in the year with a broken rib. His biggest problem has been the home run ball -- he's allowed 14 -- but switching from U.S. Cellular to Fenway will help there, so his fantasy value should get a slight boost.
