FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that David Wright has passed his physical with the Mets.
The Mets plan to hold a press conference in Nashville on Wednesday in order to make his extension official. The two sides wrapped up an eight-year, $138 million extension late last week which will keep Wright with the club through the 2020 season.

The Mets have made their "best offer" to David Wright, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News.
They're now awaiting a response from the third baseman and his agent. The offer is worth $140 million over the next eight seasons, which includes an already-locked-in $16 million option for 2013. There are deferrals and some major back-loading, but it's a proposal that is plenty fair. Wright, 29, batted .306/.391/.492 with 21 homers, 93 RBI and 15 steals in 156 games this year.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Mets have offered third baseman David Wright a contract extension worth $135-145 million over eight years.
But that offer includes Wright's $16 million salary for the 2013 season, which is already locked in. So the new extension would essentially give the 29-year-old third baseman seven more years at between $119-$129 million. He's doubtful to do much better on the open market and seems likely to ultimately accept. Unless he really wants out of New York.

ESPN's Jayson Stark spoke to a source who does not believe a contract extension for David Wright will be finalized by the Winter Meetings next week.
This doesn't mean that a deal isn't happening, but it might not be imminent. Either way, there's increased optimism that the two sides will eventually reach a satisfactory agreement. There are now multiple reports that the Mets are willing to give him seven years.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that the Mets have offered David Wright a seven-year extension which would keep him with the club through at least 2020.
In other words, the new deal would be on top of the $16 million he is owed in 2013. No word on specific terms, but Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reported early Tuesday that the Mets have made a seven-year offer "well in excess" of $100 million. Wright, who turns 30 next month, is reportedly seeking a seven-year deal worth more than $120 million.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets have made David Wright a seven-year offer "well in excess of $100 million."
This is quite a different perspective than Ken Rosenthal's reported offer of six years and $100 million, but such is life during the Hot Stove. Negotiations are ongoing and it's not clear whether a deal is imminent. Recent reports have indicated that Wright wants a seven-year deal in the range of $125 million.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Mets offered David Wright a six-year, $100 million extension on Monday.
This matches the terms of recent extensions for Ryan Zimmerman and Evan Longoria, but Wright is expected to reject the offer, as he prefers a deal of seven years or longer. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said last week that he hoped to get a "little more clarity" on talks with Wright and R.A. Dickey before the Winter Meetings begin next Monday, but he is quickly running out of time. Wright has already said that he will not negotiate once spring training begins, so a trade could be a real possibility if progress isn't made soon.

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, David Wright is a "50-50 proposition at best" to sign a long-term extension with the Mets this offseason.
Puma's source said Wright is less than thrilled with the length of contract and amount of guaranteed money the Mets have offered. Wright, who turns 30 in December, is reportedly seeking a deal of at least seven years and $125 million. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said last week that he hopes to get some clarity on the matter by the Winter Meetings while Wright will not negotiate with the club after spring training.
