According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Mets have offered third baseman David Wright a contract extension worth $135-145 million over eight years. But that offer includes Wright's $16 million salary for the 2013 season, which is already locked in. So the new extension would essentially give the 29-year-old third baseman seven more years at between $119-$129 million. He's doubtful to do much better on the open market and seems likely to ultimately accept. Unless he really wants out of New York.
