The Mets have made their "best offer" to David Wright, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. They're now awaiting a response from the third baseman and his agent. The offer is worth $140 million over the next eight seasons, which includes an already-locked-in $16 million option for 2013. There are deferrals and some major back-loading, but it's a proposal that is plenty fair. Wright, 29, batted .306/.391/.492 with 21 homers, 93 RBI and 15 steals in 156 games this year.
