Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Mets offered David Wright a six-year, $100 million extension on Monday.
This matches the terms of recent extensions for Ryan Zimmerman and Evan Longoria, but Wright is expected to reject the offer, as he prefers a deal of seven years or longer. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said last week that he hoped to get a "little more clarity" on talks with Wright and R.A. Dickey before the Winter Meetings begin next Monday, but he is quickly running out of time. Wright has already said that he will not negotiate once spring training begins, so a trade could be a real possibility if progress isn't made soon.
