Tyler Skaggs (hamstring) ran on the field and did some cuts Friday.
Skaggs has been out for a week now with a strained right hamstring, but he's feeling much better. The left-hander is hoping to be ready to return next week when his 15 days are up.

Tyler Skaggs will be placed on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.
It's not clear when Skaggs suffered the injury, but obviously he'll no longer start on Tuesday against the A's. Hector Santiago will take the ball instead. It's not clear at this point how long Skaggs will be sidelined. He holds a 4.34 ERA over 12 starts with the Angels this season.

Tyler Skaggs fell to 4-4, allowing four runs over five innings in Thursday's loss to the Astros.
Skaggs has been unreliable over the last month, allowing four runs or more in four out of his last five starts. On Thursday, the lefty allowed six hits, walked three, and struck out four. Skaggs will take a 4.34 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 58/24 K/BB ratio in 76 2/3 innings into his next start at home against the Athletics.

Tyler Skaggs got the win with a quality effort in Tuesday's start against the Astros, allowing only one run on five hits over seven innings.
The left-hander struck out six and walked one. It was good to see Skaggs bounce back after he served up five runs or more in two of his last three starts. The step forward improves the 22-year-old southpaw to 4-1 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Skaggs has a road date against Seattle on Monday.

Tyler Skaggs yielded five runs on eight hits over six innings Thursday in a no-decision to the Rays.
The left-hander struck out five and walked one. Skaggs isn't going to overpower you, so there'll be nights like this where the vagaries of batted balls determine his fate. Tonight lady luck turned her back, spiking his ERA to 4.53 (to go with a nice 1.16 WHIP). Skaggs has a spectacular matchup on Wednesday when he hosts the hapless Astros.

Tyler Skaggs allowed three runs (two earned) over eight-plus innings in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Skaggs allowed an RBI double to Edwin Encarnacion in the first inning, but cruised from there, retiring 21 batters in a row at one point. He entered the ninth inning with a chance at a complete game, but was pulled after giving up back-to-back hits. Both inherited runners eventually came around to score against Joe Smith. While Skaggs unraveled in the end, it was nice to see after he was knocked around for six runs over 2 2/3 innings last time out. The southpaw struck out four and walked none in the victory and now holds a 4.14 ERA and 28/12 K/BB ratio in 45 2/3 innings through seven starts. He'll try to build off this one in a start against the Rays next week.

Tyler Skaggs allowed six runs on eight hits over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.
The left-hander didn't have much of anything working on Sunday, allowing 11 baserunners in his 2 2/3 innings of work. He'd been much more effective in his first five starts of the year, as evidenced by his earned run average rising from 3.34 to 4.54 with the start. It was just a bump in the road for the 22-year-old. He'll try to right the ship Saturday when the Angels visit the Blue Jays.

Tyler Skaggs yielded three runs on four hits over seven innings Monday in a no-decision against the Indians.
The most encouraging aspect of this outing was that Skaggs issued just one free pass -- he struck out six -- after walking seven over his previous two starts. Outside of the recent wavering control, the 22-year-old has had an eye-opening start to the 2014 season. The Angels, who re-acquired Skaggs in the Mark Trumbo trade this winter, are 5-0 in his starts. Skaggs (2-0, 3.34 ERA) welcomes a challenge to Los Angeles this weekend when the Rangers come to town.

Tyler Skaggs got the win with a quality effort in Tuesday's start against the Nationals, allowing two runs over seven innings.
Skaggs was a bit spotty with his control, but was able to stay out of trouble against a Washington offense that looked impotent. Skaggs allowed three hits, walked four, and struck out five. He has been effective to start the season, carrying a 3.21 ERA despite an unimpressive strikeout rate. The lefty will face the Indians when he next takes the mound.

Tyler Skaggs coughed up four runs on seven hits over six innings in a no-decision against the A's on Wednesday.
The young southpaw struck out two and walked three. He wasn't awful, but he made one unforgivable mistake on a 2-1 pitch to Brandon Moss with two men on and two outs in the fourth inning. That ball was blasted over the right field fence, and Oakland had a 4-1 lead it wouldn't have relinquished if Luke Gregerson had done his job. Skaggs (3.43 ERA) will return to a familiar NL environment when he travels to Washington next week.
