Tyler Skaggs yielded four runs in seven innings Friday in a no-decision against the Mets. It wasn't technically a quality start, but it kind of was. Skaggs went the night without walking a single batter, which was encouraging. He also retired 11 of the final 13 Mets he faced. At one point, he got five straight hitters to ground out. We'd take away more good than bad from this one.

Pedro Moura of the Orange County Register reports that Tyler Skaggs' fastball "reached 95 mph several times" in his start Saturday. Moura notes that of the 521 fastballs Skaggs has thrown in the majors, none of them have clocked higher than 93 mph. His heater dropped to around 89 mph last season when the D'Backs changed his mechanics, but Skaggs has gone back to his old delivery and is seeing his velocity spike. "This is the hardest I've thrown in a long time," Skaggs said. He's a nice late-round option for fantasy owners.
