Making his spring debut, Jake Peavy pitched three-plus innings and allowed one run Thursday in the Red Sox's 4-3 win over the Twins.
Peavy missed time with a laceration on his left index finger, but he still has time to get ready for the first week of the season. He was throwing in the low-90s today, so arm strength doesn't look like a concern.

Ian Browne of MLB.com reports that it's "still too early to know" whether Jake Peavy (finger) will be ready for the start of the season.
Peavy played long-toss Tuesday and will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, but he's still not able to wear a glove due to a laceration on his left index finger. "Again, the next three days will probably have a lot to do with when he gets to the mound next in a game," Red Sox manager John Farrell said Tuesday. Farrell listed Chris Capuano and Brandon Workman as options to fill in should Peavy need a DL stint.

Jake Peavy (finger) is hoping to play catch Tuesday.
Peavy had to be scratched from a scheduled Grapefruit League start after cutting his finger with a fishing knife over the weekend. He should be back on track soon and is poised to open the 2014 regular season as Boston's No. 4 starter behind Jon Lester, John Lackey, and Clay Buchholz.

Jake Peavy was scratched from his schedule start on Monday after suffering a lacerated left index finger.
Peavy incurred the injury with a fishing knife on Saturday and won't throw at all for the next three days. This injury shouldn't impact his availability to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Jake Peavy (finger) threw his first spring training bullpen session on Thursday.
Peavy had been held back due to some inflammation in his right ring finger, but it shouldn't be a concern going forward. "I can't say it's going to be a real long delay for his first outing here in camp," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "There's still plenty of time to get him up to the appropriate number of pitches to start the season."

Jake Peavy (finger) threw long toss Tuesday.
Peavy was shut down in recent days due to an irritation of his right ring finger, but Red Sox manager John Farrell said that it has subsided. He should be caught up with the rest of the pitchers soon enough.

Jake Peavy (finger) is expected to be examined by a hand specialist early this week.
Peavy is currently dealing with an irritation of his right ring finger and has had the area bandaged in recent days. It's not a major concern, but the Red Sox want him to be cleared by the specialist before he resumes throwing.

Jake Peavy is only expected to miss a few days of action after leaving the Red Sox' spring training complex with his right ring finger bandaged.
It's a minor issue that isn't expected to impact his availability for the regular season. Given his track record, he still possesses a good bit of injury risk, but this one shouldn't impact his draft status.
