Jake Peavy surrendered four runs in six-plus innings Thursday against the Yankees. It was two runs through six innings, but manager John Farrell sent him back out for the seventh after 105 pitches. That quickly proved to be a mistake, as the first two batters reached against him. What had been a 7-2 lead turned into an 8-7 deficit by inning's end, and Peavy's streak of four straight quality starts was ruined.
