Workman (elbow) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Workman is still recovering from Tommy John surgery last June, and is a top candidate to move to the 60-day DL if and when the Red Sox need to open up a 40-man roster spot. Don't expect him to rejoin the Red Sox until deep in the second half of the campaign.

Workman (elbow) has already thrown off a mound, the Providence Journal's Brian MacPherson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eight months removed from Tommy John surgery, Workman may be a bit ahead of schedule. Still, he won't pitch in any exhibition games and will likely miss at least the first two or three months of the season.

Workman (elbow) is recovering well from Tommy John surgery and is aiming to return to game action in the second half of the season, Tim Bitton of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Workman underwent Tommy John surgery in June, so the earliest he could return in all likelihood would be sometime after the All Star break provided that he continues to recover without any setbacks. There is no word yet on when he'll resume throwing, but when healthy, he could provide bullpen depth for the Red Sox down the stretch.

Workman (elbow) has undergone Tommy John surgery, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. Dr. James Andrews performed the procedure, and now Workman's owners in keeper leagues have to deal with the fact that he probably won't be back for much of next season, and could miss 2016 entirely if his recovery goes slowly. Workman pitched in 19 games (15 starts) for the Red Sox last season, recording a 5.17 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 70 strikeouts over 87 innings.

The Red Sox transferred Workman to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday. Workman was moved to the longer disabled list in order to open a spot on the 40-man roster for Alejandro De Aza. He resumed throwing in May and will be eligible to be activated from the disabled list this month, but it remains to be seen when he will be ready to return.

Workman (elbow) has resume playing catch, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports. Workman opted to go the rest and rehab route to treat a right elbow strain, which forced him onto the DL at Triple-A Pawtucket in mid-April. He said after playing catch that the platelet-rich plasma injection he received has helped, but Workman still has a fairly long way to go before he's cleared to return to the bullpen at Pawtucket.

Workman (elbow) received a platelet-rich plasma injection Wednesday, the Boston Globe reports. Workman met with Dr. James Andrews and has apparently avoided Tommy John surgery for now. Manager John Farrell said they'll wait to see how the PRP injection goes and there's no timetable for Workman to begin a throwing program.

Workman will visit Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his elbow, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports. Concern is mounting within the organization as to Workman's health, as his trip to see Dr. Andrews would suggest. After the right-hander was diagnosed with a right elbow strain Sunday, the Red Sox recalled Workman and immediately placed him on the 15-day DL.

The Red Sox reversed Workman's (elbow) option to Triple-A Pawtucket and placed him on their 15-day disabled list Monday, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports. Workman was initially in line to land on the minor-league DL, but he'll instead stick around with the parent club while he recovers from a strained elbow. Workman is expected to assume a relief role with the Red Sox once healthy.

Triple-A Pawtucket placed Workman on the disabled list Saturday with a right elbow strain, the Providence Journal reports. Workman, who's being converted to a full-time reliever this season, was expected to compete for a job on Boston's roster but struggled with velocity early in spring training. He came on at the end, but was assigned to Pawtucket.
