The Twins are hoping Kyle Gibson (back) will be ready to start on Saturday.
Gibson was scratched from Wednesday's scheduled out due to a stiff back, but the hope is that it's a short-term concern. If Gibson isn't ready, the Twins are expected to call up Logan Darnell to fill in.

Kyle Gibson has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the Indians due to a stiff back.
He should be fine for his next outing or maybe even later in the week, but the Twins wanted to play it safe. Anthony Swarzak will make a spot start in Gibson's place.

Kyle Gibson spun six shutout innings in Wednesday's 8-1 victory over the Mariners.
Gibson scattered seven hits, punched out three and issued one free pass. He's gone 4-2 with a 2.51 ERA in seven starts at home, but came into this outing 3-5 with a 5.54 ERA in 10 road outings. Looking to continue to improve his effectiveness away from the Twin Cities in the second half, Gibson heads into the All-Star break 8-7 with a 3.92 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.

Kyle Gibson was pulled after allowing six runs -- five earned -- in two innings Friday against the Yankees.
Gibson has been quite the boom-or-bust pitcher this year, with six outings of zero runs allowed and now three in which he's given up six or seven runs over two innings. He also had one in which he gave up seven runs in three innings. The end result has been a perfectly average 7-7 record and 4.17 ERA, but the average outings have been few and far between.

Kyle Gibson had a nightmare outing against the Angels on Tuesday, allowing seven earned runs over two innings in an 8-6 loss.
Gibson was pummeled for five runs in the first inning, and he managed to do so while simultaneously not recording an out and without giving up so much as one extra-base hit (walk, walk, botched fielder's choice that loaded the bases, two-run single, hit by pitch, two-run single, double play, inning-ending ground out). Gibson was on a 22-inning shutout streak entering the game, but he falls to 6-6 with a 3.92 ERA. He travels to Texas on Sunday.

Kyle Gibson turned in a third straight scoreless start Wednesday, allowing just one hit over seven innings against the Red Sox.
This was easily the best of the trio, with eight strikeouts and no walks. Not only was the eight strikeouts a season high, but he had never even had back-to-back starts with more than eight strikeouts total this year. His previous high was five against the Astros on June 7. Gibson remains a long shot to amass long-term value in mixed leagues, and we wouldn't want to take the chance on another strong outing with a road start against the Angels next on the schedule.

Kyle Gibson was terrific on Friday, hurling seven shutout innings against the Tigers to earn his sixth victory of the season.
Gibson allowed just five hits and a pair of walks on the night while striking out three. The Tigers mounted plenty of threats against him throughout the game, but were unable to deliver a key hit with runners in scoring position. He'll bring a 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 38/25 K/BB ratio into Wednesday's matchup against the Red Sox in Boston.

Kyle Gibson blanked the Astros for seven innings in an easy victory Saturday.
Gibson was given eight runs to work with today. That's twice as many runs as the Twins had scored in his previous three starts combined. Gibson has now had four starts this season in which he's allowed no runs and three in which he's allowed just one. Unfortunately, he's given up 27 over 22 2/3 innings in the other five, leaving him with an average 5-5 record and a 3.91 ERA.

Kyle Gibson yielded four runs over six innings in Monday's loss to the Brewers.
Gibson gave up six hits (including a two-run homer to Mark Reynolds) and walked none while notching just one strikeout. While he took the loss, he did get his first major league hit. Gibson owns a 4.35 ERA through his first 11 starts this season and has just 30 strikeouts in 62 innings, so he's not an option in most fantasy leagues.

Kyle Gibson got the no-decision, tossing six scoreless innings in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers.
Gibson pitched well, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out four. The right-hander has either been very good or very bad with little in-between over 10 starts. He owns a 4.18 ERA with a 29/20 K/BB ratio in 56 innings. Gibson will go in search of his fifth win in his next start against the Brewers on the road.
