Kyle Gibson is listed as the Twins' starter for Tuesday's game versus the Orioles, while Samuel Deduno, Vance Worley and Scott Diamond aren't listed for any more Grapefruit League starts.
Gibson is currently lined up like he'll be the club's No. 5 starter, though the Twins have yet to officially come out an say he's won the job. The right-hander has certainly earned it, posting a 2.70 ERA over 13 1/3 innings this spring. Both Worley and Diamond are out of options, so it will be interesting to see what the Twins do with their roster.

Kyle Gibson allowed one run in 4 1/3 innings and struck out four Wednesday in his start against the Cardinals.
Gibson has been effective in three of his four outings and he wasn't all that bad in the either, so his ERA currently sits at 2.70. Still, for the Twins to carry him as their fifth starter, they'd have to jettison two out-of-options pitchers in Vance Worley and Scott Diamond and then stick the more-deserving Samuel Deduno in the pen. It seems like quite a long shot.

Kyle Gibson gave up three runs in four innings Friday in a no-decision against the Yankees.
Gibson allowed three hits, walked two and struck out none. Encouraging is that nine of his outs came on the ground. Still, he hasn't set himself apart in the fifth-starter competition so far, and he seems nearly certain to get optioned to Triple-A.

Kyle Gibson has been placed on the Triple-A DL with a right groin strain.
This is more or less a phantom injury designed to shut Gibson down for the season because he reached his predetermined innings limit. The rookie right-hander posted an ugly 6.53 ERA and 29/20 K/BB ratio in 51 innings across his first 10 starts in the majors, but is a better-than-average bet to open next season in Minnesota's rotation. Fellow top prospect Trevor May was promoted from Double-A to take his spot on Rochester's roster.

Twins optioned RHP Kyle Gibson to Triple-A Rochester.
Gibson gets the boot after giving up four runs on 10 hits and two walks over just 3 2/3 innings Monday against the Mets. The rookie right-hander posted an ugly 6.53 ERA and 29/20 K/BB ratio in 51 innings across his first 10 starts in the majors. With his innings limit quickly approaching, the Twins might just shut him down and turn to the focus to 2014.

Kyle Gibson yielded three runs in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision Friday against the White Sox.
Gibson went his first four major league starts without giving up a homer, yet still amassed a 6.45 ERA. In his last four, he's given up seven homers, which his ERA remaining almost entirely unchanged at 6.43. Especially after factoring in the fact that he's faced an incredibly easy schedule, he's been a big disappointment so far. Of course, it is his first full year back Tommy John surgery.

Kyle Gibson allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.
Gibson gave up two home runs, including a three-run shot to Nick Franklin. He wasn't able to overcome a disastrous fourth inning and was charged with his third loss since being call up in late June. Gibson will look to get back on track in his next start Saturday against the Astros.

Kyle Gibson allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Tuesday.
He struck out four. Gibson (2-2, 5.72 ERA) was extremely sharp outside of two big mistakes: Solo home runs swatted by Albert Pujols and Mark Trumbo. Since going 1-2 with a 7.27 ERA in his first three big league starts, Gibson has looked noticeably more comfortable in surrendering two runs apiece in his last two outings.

Kyle Gibson earned his second win by allowing three runs -- two earned -- over five innings against the Yankees on Sunday.
He struck out just one, walked four and surrendered five hits. Gibson hasn't been impressive in four starts since Minnesota summoned the ballyhooed right-hander. The 25-year-old is 2-2 with a 6.45 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and ugly 11/9 K/BB rate over 22 1/3 innings. One hopes that Gibson will get his head straight over the All-Star break and begin the second half by attacking the plate.

Kyle Gibson allowed four runs over six innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.
Gibson was done in by wildness on Tuesday, as he walked four and threw a wild pitch to go along with four hits. In three starts since being recalled, Gibson is 1-2 with a 7.27 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. He's still a part of the Twins' long-term plans, so they'll continue to run him out there despite the bumps. His final start before the break will come Sunday against the Yankees in the Bronx.
