He's only coughed up three homers during that span -- including George Springer's solo long fly tonight -- which won't continue, but owners need to ride the wave as long as Weaver continues fooling big league hitters. Now 5-3 with a 2.85 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, Weaver has a road date in Seattle on Tuesday.

Jered Weaver pitched seven innings of two-run ball, allowing three hits, Friday against the Rays. Diminished stuff or no, Weaver has turned in six strong starts in a row. It's mostly a result of him allowing just two homers during the span, which seems pretty fluky. Enjoy it while it lasts, but don't expect a lot of mixed-league value the rest of the way.

Through his first three outings, the veteran scuffled to an 0-2 start with a 5.79 ERA. Since then, he's been dynamite, allowing only five runs in four subsequent starts. The right-hander, now 3-2 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, hopes to carry tonight's stuff through customs for a matchup in Toronto this weekend.

Jered Weaver permitted two runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings in Tuesday's victory over the Indians. The veteran struck out six, walked one and hit the showers early at 90 pitches. He was dancing around all those hits until Carlos Santana's two-run homer in the sixth summoned Michael Kohn to the mound pronto. Weaver evens his record to 2-2 to go with a tidy 4.00 ERA. He'll toe the rubber in Los Angeles against the Yankees on Monday.

Weaver walked three and struck out three on the night. Even with his velocity down, he was able to keep Tigers hitters off-balance which led to weak contact throughout the game. He now sports a 4.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 20/10 K/BB ratio through 24 2/3 innings on the season. He'll look to replicate this outing when he does battle against the Nationals in Washington on Wednesday.

Weaver walked four and gave up his fifth homer of the year before departing. He's just a fringe guy in mixed leagues right now.

Weaver held the Mariners to just one run over the first five innings, but things came apart for him at the end. All told, he allowed six hits and three walks while fanning six. We still think he can be successful, especially making half of his starts in a pitcher-friendly ballpark, but it's hard to look at him as a top-tier starting pitcher with his velocity continuing to decline.
