Angels manager Mike Scioscia reiterated Thursday that Jered Weaver (back) is feeling "fine" and will be ready to go for Saturday's start versus the Rangers. "He feels good today," the skipper added. Weaver exited his last outing on Monday with tightness in his lower back, but it sounds like the ailment is no longer a concern. The right-hander owns a 3.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 93/33 K/BB ratio in 118 1/3 innings this season for the Angels.

Jered Weaver (back) played catch Tuesday and said he felt "a lot better." Weaver left Monday's start against the Blue Jays with lower back tightness. His next scheduled start for this weekend remains up in the air, but obviously it's good news that he's improving. He'll need to throw his regular between-starts bullpen session before being cleared.

Jered Weaver left Monday's start against the Blue Jays with lower back tightness. Weaver had thrown two perfect frames but exited after warming up before the top of the third inning. He's likely considered day-to-day, but the Angels should provide an update on his status after the game. Matt Shoemaker, who threw 102 pitch last Thursday, relieved Weaver.

Jered Weaver allowed five runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings against the White Sox but earned a win for his efforts on Tuesday. The White Sox pushed across four of the runs on two two-run homers, as Weaver has now allowed 16 home runs through 18 starts this year. On the plus side, he didn't walk a batter while striking out six. The ugly win leaves him with a respectable 9-6 record, 3.56 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the season. He'll look for a better performance Sunday against the Astros.

Jered Weaver pitched seven innings of one-run ball Thursday in a victory over the Twins. Weaver had given up 14 homers among his 85 hits allowed this season, but none of the eight hits he allowed today left the yard (Joe Mauer's might off, but Mike Trout got a glove on it and turned it into a double). He's given up two runs over 15 innings in his last two starts to bring his ERA back down to 3.33. Despite the homers, he's been better than the Angels should have anticipated.

Jered Weaver limited the Rangers to one run and four hits in eight innings in a no-decision Saturday. Weaver exited with a one-run lead after 108 pitches, but Kevin Jepsen couldn't make it stand up. It was still one of Weaver's best outings of the season, and the first since May 11 in which he didn't give up a homer. He's 7-6 with a 3.47 ERA.

Jered Weaver gave up four runs in six innings Monday in a loss to the Indians. Weaver gave up two homers in this one, running his streak to seven straight starts of giving up a long ball. After an outstanding month of May in which he went 4-1 with a 1.98 ERA, he's 1-3 with a 5.79 ERA in June. He'll return home for a start against the Rangers next time out, making him a better play in mixed leagues.

Jered Weaver was tagged for four runs on six hits and two walks in Wednesday's 7-1 loss opposite the Athletics. The veteran right-hander was slogging through the outing without his good stuff until Stephen Vogt ended his night in the sixth inning with a two-run blast. Weaver struck out five and required 104 pitches to secure 16 outs. After falling to 7-5 with a 3.51 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, Weaver heads to Cleveland for a Tuesday night date against the Indians.

Jered Weaver fanned nine while allowing two runs over six innings Friday in a victory over the White Sox. The White Sox had chances tonight -- they had 10 men on base during Weaver's six innings -- but they couldn't do anything more than score lone runs in the third and fifth innings. Weaver moved to 8-2 with a 1.70 ERA in 11 career starts versus the White Sox. He won't be as good of a play with the A's next on the schedule.
