Jered Weaver allowed four runs (three earned) in 6 1/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Mariners. Weaver held the Mariners to just one run over the first five innings, but things came apart for him at the end. All told, he allowed six hits and three walks while fanning six. We still think he can be successful, especially making half of his starts in a pitcher-friendly ballpark, but it's hard to look at him as a top-tier starting pitcher with his velocity continuing to decline.
