Jason Vargas allowed seven runs on 11 hits over five innings in a loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
After a scoreless first inning, Vargas allowed runs in each of the next four innings. He served up two home runs among his 11 hits allowed, giving him six homers allowed in seven starts. Even with the poor start, Vargas still owns a 3.50 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in his 46 1/3 innings. He'll look to get back on track Friday against his former team, the Mariners.

Jason Vargas was lit up for five earned runs in 6 1/3 innings but the Royals beat the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
The Royals generated 10 runs to save Vargas from his first loss of the season. The left-hander entered the outing with a 1.54 ERA, though that never seemed likely to last. He remains a low-level fantasy streamer.

Jason Vargas spun seven scoreless frames in 5-0 win over the Twins on Friday night.
Vargas scattered seven hits (all singles) in the victory while walking just one batter and fanning four. The 31-year-old left-hander has been excellent so far this season, going at least seven innings in all four of his starts while allowing two runs or fewer in all of them. We don't expect the 1.24 ERA to last, but the Royals have to be thrilled with the early returns on their offseason investment.

Jason Vargas allowed two runs over seven innings but took a no-decision against the Twins on Sunday.
Vargas held the Twins scoreless through six innings before allowing two in his seventh and final inning of work. He finished with five hits allowed and three walks while striking out four. The southpaw has a microscopic 1.64 ERA and 0.86 WHIP through three starts, and he'll face the Twins in a rematch next weekend.

Jason Vargas took a shutout into the ninth before giving up a solo homer Monday in the Royals' 4-2 win over the Rays.
Vargas was pulled immediately after Ben Zobrist's homer, so his line had him allowing one run in eight-plus innings. Had he managed to finish up, it would have been his sixth career shutout. Still, earning his first win as a Royal was a nice consolation prize.

Jason Vargas took a tough-luck no-decision Wednesday, holding the Tigers to one run over seven innings in an extra-innings loss.
Vargas yielded just five hits, walked one and struck out six. He was in control other than a leadoff home run by Ian Kinsler in the fourth. Signed to a $32 million contract over the offseason, Vargas should be a solid rotation stabilizer for the Royals but doesn't have much upside for fantasy purposes. He'll face the Rays next.

Jason Vargas allowed three runs in three innings in Friday's 5-4 win over the Brewers.
Vargas went two scoreless to start the game before Ryan Braun launched a three-run homer on a third inning changeup. On the night, Vargas allowed two hits and two walks, striking out one. The start was just one final tune-up for the southpaw, who will make his first start as a member of the Royals next week.

Jason Vargas allowed one run over seven innings against the Rangers on Saturday.
Vargas scattered eight hits and a walk over his seven innnings, throwing 96 pitches. The left-hander also struck out five. In 21 spring innings, Vargas now owns a 2.14 ERA. He'll slot in nicely near the top of the Royals' rotation this season but remains a low-end fantasy option.

Jason Vargas allowed one run over four innings in his start against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Vargas finally allowed his first run in Cactus League play. The lefty gave up four hits and a walk and struck out two. Vargas isn't anything special in fantasy baseball, but he should eat up plenty of innings for the Royals in the middle of their starting rotation.
