Jake Odorizzi struck out eight but was tagged for four runs over just five innings in Thursday's loss to the Marlins.
It was more of the same for Odorizzi, who has piled up strikeouts but consistently failed to go deep into games. The young right-hander now has whiffed 71 over 57 2/3 frames this year but holds a 5.31 ERA and has yet to record an out past the sixth inning. He'll get the Cardinals the next time out.

Jake Odorizzi was knocked around for five earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings Saturday against the Red Sox.
Odorizzi looked sharp through his first two frames, but Jonathan Herrera opened the third inning with a single and then Brock Holt slugged a two-run homer. Mike Carp added a run with a sacrifice fly a few batters later and the Red Sox plated two more runs in the fourth. Odorizzi has shown great promise at times this season, but he owns a rough 2-5 record, 5.13 ERA, and 1.54 WHIP in 52 2/3 total frames.

Jake Odorizzi allowed one run on four hits in six innings of a no-decision against the Red Sox on Sunday.
Odorizzi staked the Red Sox to an early one-run lead but kept them off the board for the rest of his time. He walked just one while striking out five in the game. Unfortunately for him the Rays bullpen was unable to deliver his third win, but it was still his third strong start in his last four outings. Odorizzi will carry a 4.56 ERA and 1.50 WHIP into a rematch with the Red Sox on Saturday.

Jake Odorizzi had a strange night on Tuesday, issuing five free passes, striking out eight and allowing three runs over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the A's.
The A's did all their damage with a three-run third inning, but Odorizzi worked into and out of trouble most of the night. The five walks were the most he's given out in a start this year, as he's now walked 23 in 43 1/3 innings. The eight strikeouts are also a continuation of a trend, giving him 26 in his last 15 2/3 innings and 52 punchouts on the year. The loss dropped him to 2-4 with a 4.98, numbers he'll try to improve upon Sunday against the Red Sox.

Jake Odorizzi threw six shutout innings of one-hit ball as the Rays topped the Mariners 2-0 on Wednesday.
Odorizzi allowed only a single, walking two, in his six innings of brilliance. The right-hander struck out seven, and combined with his last start Odorizzi has thrown 11 scoreless innings while striking out 18 batters. He's got the A's in his sights for his next start, scheduled for Tuesday.

Jake Odorizzi racked up a career-high 11 strikeouts over five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Friday.
The 24-year-old hurler scattered five hits while walking two in the game. Unfortunately, his bullpen wasn't able to hold on to the two-run advantage to earn him a victory. While he's compiled a disappointing 5.79 ERA and 1.74 WHIP through his first 32 2/3 innings, starts like this show his potential and give the Rays reason to keep him in the rotation. He'll look for more of the same when he takes on the Mariners in Seattle on Wednesday.

Jake Odorizzi lasted just four-plus innings and gave up three runs Saturday against the Yankees.
It's the same story for Odorizzi every time out. In this one, he was perfect his first time around the order and then garbage afterwards. After his last start, we noted that he had a 1.20 ERA in his first three innings of games and a 15.58 ERA afterwards. Now it's 1.00 and 18.62. He needs to be pulled from the rotation. Mike Montgomery can replace him.

Jake Odorizzi surrendered four runs in 4 1/3 innings Monday in a loss to the White Sox.
The only difference between tonight and his previous starts was that Odorizzi actually have up a couple of runs in the second inning; he hadn't allowed a run in the first three innings of any of his previous four starts this season. After tonight, Odorizzi has a 1.20 ERA in the first three innings of his starts and a 15.58 ERA afterwards. His time in the rotation could come to an end soon, but at least he might be pretty useful as a reliever if current trends hold.

Jake Odorizzi turned in his third consecutive mediocre start, allowing four runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Twins on Wednesday in a no-decision.
Odorizzi allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out five. His big mistake came in the fourth inning when Chris Colabello hit a two-run home run, part of a four-run fourth inning. Odorizzi has a 6.52 ERA over four starts and will look to get back on track against the White Sox next.

Jake Odorizzi was sent back to the team hotel Monday due to illness.
As of now, the Rays still expect him to make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Orioles. The 24-year-old right-hander was hit hard for seven runs over five innings in his most recent start last Wednesday against the Royals.
