Rays optioned RHP Jake Odorizzi to Triple-A Durham. Odorizzi pitched well against the Red Sox Tuesday as the 26th man during a doubleheader, but he'll return to Durham's rotation. He could be back up when the Rays need a fifth starter again.

Jake Odorizzi yielded just one earned run over 5 2/3 innings but the Rays lost to the Red Sox in the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader at Fenway Park. Odorizzi definitely did his part, allowing only five hits and striking out two while issuing no walks. He was up as the 26th man for Tuesday's twin-billing and will likely be sent back to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

Rays recalled RHP Jake Odorizzi from Triple-A Durham. Odorizzi will be the 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox and is slated to start the nightcap. The 23-year-old has allowed 11 runs in 12 1/3 innings in two starts and one relief appearance with the Rays this season and will likely be sent back down to the minors after Tuesday's start. He's someone to keep an eye on for the future.

Jake Odorizzi will start the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. The Rays will officially promote Odorizzi on Tuesday night to be their 26th man. The talented young right-hander has a bright future but probably isn't worth messing with for one random outing at Fenway Park. Chris Archer will start the first half of the doubleheader.

Rays recalled RHP Jake Odorizzi from Triple-A Durham. Odorizzi will serve as a fresh arm for the Rays' battered bullpen, though he could be in line for a spot start at some point later this week. Alex Cobb was placed on the bereavement list in a corresponding roster move following the death of his grandmother and it's not certain when he will return.

Jake Odorizzi is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Durham prior to Tuesday's game. Odorizzi will provide a fresh arm in the bullpen following Monday's extra-inning loss. Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) may be headed to the disabled list in a corresponding roster move, though the Rays have yet to make an official announcement.

Rays optioned RHP Jake Odorizzi to Triple-A Durham. Odorizzi got a shot to fill in for the injured David Price but flopped, allowing nine runs over nine innings in two starts. The Rays will call up a reliever prior to Wednesday's game before adding a starter Saturday. Chris Archer is an obvious candidate for a promotion.

Jake Odorizzi was charged with six runs in four-plus innings against the Marlins on Monday. It was a very disappointing performance from Odorizzi, who had a favorable matchup and received plenty of run support. He gave up eight hits and one walk and also hit two batters. The Rays will keep him in the rotation as long as David Price (triceps) is sidelined, but we wouldn't trust him in mixed leagues this weekend against the Indians.

Jake Odorizzi's next start has been pushed back to next Monday against the Marlins. Odorizzi originally lined up to face the Yankees on Sunday, but Alex Cobb will get the call instead. The 23-year-old right-hander gave up three runs in five innings Monday against the Indians and makes for a fine streaming option in mixed leagues now that he has a favorable matchup against Miami.
