Jake Odorizzi gave up three runs in five innings in his Rays' debut Monday against the Indians.
Odorizzi allowed two runs in the first inning and one in the second, but he settled down from there and was able to keep the Rays in the ballgame. He gave up five hits and just one walk while striking out six batters. The 23-year-old right-hander is worth a shot in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues while David Price is sidelined, though he has a tough matchup against the Yankees this weekend.

Rays recalled RHP Jake Odorizzi from Triple-A Durham.
The talented 23-year-old right-hander is making his Rays debut on Monday afternoon against the Blue Jays in place of injured left-hander David Price. Odorizzi had a 3.83 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 47/15 K/BB ratio through 44 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He is worth a try in mixed fantasy leagues for however long he's up.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said he planned to have Jake Odorizzi make all of the starts in place of the injured David Price (triceps).
It could possibly only be a couple starts, as the Rays are optimistic that Price will not need to miss much time. Odorizzi will make his Rays' debut on Tuesday against the Blue Jays. He's worth a shot in deeper mixed leagues.

The Rays have officially announced that Jake Odorizzi will be Monday's starter against the Blue Jays.
The move won't be made official until Sunday, but the Rays have confirmed what was suspected since David Price (triceps) went on the disabled list. The Blue Jays are not a very pitcher-friendly opponent, but Odorizzi is talented enough to warrant a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 3.83 ERA and 47/15 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A Durham.

Jake Odorizzi is expected to be called up Monday to start in place of David Price against Toronto.
Odorizzi and Alex Colome were the frontrunners for the spot start, and it seems like Odorizzi will win out. Colome pitched for Triple-A Durham on Saturday, and Odorizzi is on the same five-day schedule as Price was. The Blue Jays aren't the most pitcher-friendly opponent for a spot starter, but Odorizzi is good enough that he warrants a look in deeper mixed leagues. The right-hander has a 3.83 ERA and 47/15 K/BB ratio through 44 2/3 innings at Triple-A Durham this year.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times hears that prospect right-hander Jake Odorizzi is the most likely option to fill in for David Price (triceps) in the starting rotation.
Alex Torres, Alex Colome, and Chris Archer are also under consideration for the assignment, but Odorizzi has pitched really well so far in Triple-A and lines up perfectly for Monday against the Blue Jays. The 23-year-old is worth grabbing in AL-only leagues.

Rays prospect Jake Odorizzi threw seven innings in a combined no-hitter Sunday at Triple-A Durham.
Odorizzi shut down Triple-A Pawtucket (an affiliate of the Red Sox) for the first seven innings, then relievers Frank De Los Santos, Kirby Yates and Jeff Beliveau closed it out. Odorizzi, 23, has a 2.65 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 39/13 K/BB ratio in 34 innings this season. He should reach the major league level at some point this year.

Rays optioned RHP Jake Odorizzi to Triple-A Durham.
Odorizzi gave up five runs over five innings in three appearances (one start) this spring. The soon-to-be 23-year-old was acquired from the Royals in the big James Shields trade and could make an impact at some point this season, though Chris Archer may get the first shot if a rotation spot opens.

Jake Odorizzi surrendered three runs and two homers over two innings against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Odorizzi was already behind Jeff Niemann and Roberto Hernandez in the competition for a spot in Tampa Bay's rotation, and Chris Archer should probably be ahead of him, too. He's a fine prospect and he'd probably make some other rotations around the league, but since he's a Ray, he's looking at a return to Triple-A.

Rays acquired RHP Jake Odorizzi from the Royals in the James Shields trade.
Considered one of the Royals' top pitching prospects, Odorizzi went 15-5 with a 3.03 ERA at the minor league level this past season and earned a brief callup in September. He'll likely compete with Alex Cobb and Chris Archer for the final spot in the Rays' starting rotation in spring training.
