Felipe Paulino (elbow, shoulder) threw a 25-pitch live batting practice session Monday.
The next step is two simulated innings on Thursday and three simulated innings on July 30. If those two sessions go well, he should be able to resume a rehab assignment. Paulino has had to start and stop his rehab a couple times but should return sometime next month if he can avoid any more setbacks.

Felipe Paulino (elbow, shoulder) will throw a full bullpen session on Friday.
Paulino has been shut down recently with a sore shoulder, but he's feeling much better and could resume his rehab assignment soon if Friday's session goes well. "I feel good," he insisted. "What they really want to see is how my shoulder feels the day after my bullpen. That's the only concern. My back (an earlier ailment) is fine. And my elbow is fine."

Felipe Paulino (elbow, back, shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session this Friday.
It will be a big test for the rehabbing right-hander, who is on his way back from Tommy John surgery and has been bothered recently by back and shoulder discomfort. There is no timetable for his return to Kansas City.

Felipe Paulino (elbow, back) experienced shoulder soreness after a simulated game on Tuesday and will not resume his rehab assignment Sunday as originally scheduled.
Paulino already had to be shut down from his rehab assignment earlier this month due to stiffness in his lower back, but now his shoulder is giving him issues. Coming back from Tommy John surgery, he'll need to make several starts before the Royals consider bringing him back to the majors. He's nowhere close right now.

Felipe Paulino (elbow, back) is hoping to resume his rehab assignment this weekend.
Paulino was pulled off his rehab assignment earlier this month due to lower back stiffness, but he threw a 65-pitch simulated game Tuesday with no issues. He made just one rehab start before the back malady and will need a few more outings before being an option to rejoin the Royals' rotation. "All my stuff is ready, all I need is to just compete," Paulino said. "I need to throw in some game situations and test my arm."

Felipe Paulino (elbow) has been recalled from his rehab assignment due to lower back stiffness.
Paulino was scratched from a scheduled rehab start on Sunday due to the injury. It's considered minor, though, so he should be pitching again soon. "I don't think it's anything major. Very minor," Royals manager Ned Yost said.

Felipe Paulino (elbow) was scratched from a scheduled rehab start on Sunday due to back stiffness.
The Royals are viewing it as a minor setback, as Paulino could be ready to return to the hill on Wednesday. "We want to see him have a good side session and a functional return on fielding his position," trainer Nick Kenney said, "for us to feel comfortable with him pitching on Wednesday." Paulino tossed five scoreless inning in his first rehab outing last week.

Felipe Paulino (elbow) struck out six over five scoreless innings in his first rehab start with Double-A Northwest Arkansas Tuesday.
Paulino allowed only two hits and two walks in the outing and threw 42 of 67 pitches for strikes in an impressive first rehab outing. The right-hander will need a handful of rehab starts before likely rejoining the Royals' rotation around the All-Star break.

Felipe Paulino (elbow) expects to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week with Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
Paulino figures to need a handful of rehab starts as he continues to build strength in his elbow following Tommy John surgery last July. If all goes well, the 29-year-old should be an option for the Royals' rotation around the All-Star break.
