Paulino (shoulder) threw one inning in Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Paulino suffered a shoulder injury and then aggravated it during rehab in 2014. We suspect he'll be part of Triple-A Pawtucket's starting rotation, but there are others ahead of him if Boston's needs to call up a starter in an emergency.

Paulino (shoulder) signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
After undergoing Tommy John surgery during the 2012 season, Paulino bounced back to open 2014 in the White Sox's starting rotation. He posted an 11.29 ERA over four starts, before landing on the disabled list due to a shoulder injury. He aggravated the injury during his rehab assignment, and then spent the rest of the season on the 60-day DL. Paulino figures to open 2015 in the minor leagues, if he's healthy enough to pitch.

Paulino's $4 million club option for 2015 was declined by the White Sox on Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Paulino started the season as the White Sox's no. 2 starter and struggled mightily before being placed on the disabled list for what turned out to be the remainder of the season. He is now a free agent, but his history of shoulder and elbow injuryies will likely prevent him from commanding a big salary on the open market.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Taylor Thompson. Paulino remains out indefinitely with shoulder issues.
