Carlos Quentin (knee) is headed to the Padres' spring training complex in Arizona to resume baseball-related activities.
It's not a good sign when you go from playing in rehab games to performing drills in extended spring, but at least Quentin will be active again. The outfielder had a cortisone shot in his surgically-repaired right knee last week after experiencing a setback. He's without a timetable.

Carlos Quentin received a cortisone shot in his right knee Tuesday.
Quentin has been shut down from his rehab assignment after experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired knee last week. He should be able to resume it in a few days if the shot takes the desired effect, and a return before the end of the month still remains possible.

Carlos Quentin (knee) has suffered what was described by Padres manager Bud Black as a "minor setback."
Black said Quentin is still feeling pain in his knee when he gets into his batting stance. It sounds like the outfielder may be a couple weeks away from returning.

Carlos Quentin (knee) thinks he could return for the beginning of the Padres' road trip on Friday.
Quentin began a rehab assignment last Tuesday and has been encouraged by how his surgically-repaired knee has felt. He's currently at High-A Lake Elsinore, and it sounds like he could join the Padres in Philadelphia over the weekend. Quentin batted .254/.340/.499 with 24 homers last year for the White Sox, and the Padres will be counting on him as a middle-of-the-order threat.

Carlos Quentin (knee) will join Class-A Lake Elsinore later this week as he continues his rehab assignment.
Quentin will be in San Diego Monday to get checked up. After that, he will continue his rehab assignment. The outfielder underwent arthroscopic surgery on March 19 to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Padres manager Bud Black won't speculate on when Quentin might be ready to return to the San Diego lineup.

Carlos Quentin (knee) went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run Tuesday in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Tucson.
Quentin served as the designated hitter in his first game back from knee surgery. He'll likely need to play multiple games in the outfield before coming off the disabled list, so we don't expect him to make his Padres' debut until late next week at the earliest. This would be a smart time to stash him in a deeper mixed league, though.

Carlos Quentin (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson Tuesday.
Padres manager Bud Black said Quentin will play at least seven games for Tucson before being activated. The outfielder underwent arthroscopic surgery on March 19 to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, so, in addition to testing out the knee, he needs to get his timing down.

Padres manager Bud Black said Sunday that Carlos Quentin (knee) will begin his rehab assignment in the middle of this coming week.
Quentin resumed hitting earlier this month and is slowly ramping up other baseball activities. "He's still got to run the bases and do more intensive fielding drills. Hitting, he feels fine. We're trying to get him up to speed as soon as we can," Black said. Quentin will either play for Triple-A Tucson or Class-A Lake Elsinore. He will start with designated hitter duties before moving into the field. He's currently on track to come off the disabled list in the early part of May.

Carlos Quentin (knee) took grounders in the outfield Thursday but is still a week from beginning a rehab assignment.
He's already been hitting for over a week now. Quentin underwent arthroscopic surgery on March 19 to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, and although the Padres were originally hoping to get him back into the lineup by late April, it shouldn't be too far into May before he's ready. When he does return, the host of left fielders the Padres have been using (Chris Denorfia, Mark Kotsay, Jesus Guzman and Jeremy Hermida) will go back to the bench.

Carlos Quentin (knee) hit in a simulated game Tuesday.
Quentin is making good progress from right knee surgery, but Padres manager Bud Black said he still needs to full speed and slide before he can begin a minor league rehab assignment. There's a good chance that will happen in the next seven to 10 days, but he's unlikely to come off the disabled list until the second week of May at the earliest.
