Carlos Quentin (knee) took batting practice and ran in the outfield Thursday.
Quentin was cleared to begin taking batting practice this week as he continues his rehab from March surgery on his right knee. It's not clear when he'll go out on a minor league rehab assignment, but there's a good chance he comes off the DL by the end of the month.

Carlos Quentin (knee) is scheduled to take live batting practice early next week.
Quentin, who underwent right knee surgery less than a month ago, recently began swinging at balls off a tee in the cage. He'll likely need a brief minor league rehab assignment, but barring any setbacks, he should come off the disabled list by the end of April.

Manager Bud Black said Friday that Carlos Quentin (knee surgery) is ''progressing well'' and remains on track to return in the second half of April.
Quentin underwent arthroscopic surgery on March 19 to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. "The doctors are happy with his progress," Black said. "He's getting closer to true baseball activities." Quentin is expected to need time to rehab in the minors before he's ready to be activated from the disabled list. Jesus Guzman should benefit in the short-term.

Carlos Quentin is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday.
Quentin had a meniscus tear repaired and loose cartilage removed. It's a tough break for the Padres, who surprised many around baseball by acquiring the 29-year-old outfielder from the White Sox during the offseason. Kyle Blanks should benefit in the short-term.

Carlos Quentin will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Quentin was a late scratch from Thursday's Cactus League lineup, and apparently took an impromptu visit to a knee specialist. It's a major blow to the Friars, who acquired the 29-year-old outfielder this offseason in a trade from the White Sox. Quentin was already going to take a hit in fantasy value with the move to Petco Park, and this bit of news will drop him down further.

The Padres haven't offered a timetable for when Quentin will return, but it doesn't sound like they're too concerned. Consider him day-to-day for the time being, but we'll update his status when more is known.

Carlos Quentin singled and launched a solo homer Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
The blast came in the sixth inning off reliever Takashi Saito. It was Quentin's first longball in a Padres uniform, though he's now batting .533 with a pair of doubles in his first 15 at-bats this spring. His power will drop off this year in Petco Park, but he should still be a solid end-game fantasy option if he can manage to stay healthy.

Making his exhibition debut for the Padres, Carlos Quentin went 2-for-2 with a double and walk in Monday's loss to the Mariners.
So far, so good for one of the Padres' big offseason acquisitions, who hit .328 /.358/.625 for the White Sox last spring. He went on to post a .254/.340/.499 regular season triple slash.
