Anderson underwent successful surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back Thursday, the Denver Post reports.
The lefty's season is over as a result, but head athletic trainer Keith Dugger believes Anderson should be ready for spring training. A finger injury forced Anderson out of action in April and he made just five starts upon his return before the back issue crept up. The injury-plagued 2014 campaign marks his third straight with single-digit starts.

Anderson will indeed require surgery to repair a bulging disc in his lower back, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
After a week of rest and treatment, Anderson's back pain showed little sign of improvement and upon further examination by spinal surgeon Dr. Chris Yeung on Monday, was deemed to require surgery in order to fix the issue. The procedure is set to take place Thursday and typically comes along with a five-month recovery period. The good news is that Anderson is expected to be ready for Spring Training in 2015. However, it seems unlikely that the Rockies will opt to exercise their $12 million option on the 26-year-old lefty.

An MRI revealed that Anderson was dealing with a bulging disc in his back, likely ending his season, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Anderson will see a back specialist on Monday before his next move his determined, but it seems likely at this point that the Rockies will shut him down for the season. His performed spectacularly when healthy with a 2.91 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over eight starts, but as has been the case for much of his career, injuries once again will cost him significant time.

The Rockies fear Anderson's back injury could be season-ending, the Denver Post reports.
An MRI was order on Anderson's ailing back, with the team wanting to see if there's a possible disc issue, but the results have not been released. Anderson was said to still be in a great deal of discomfort Friday, a day after hitting the 15-day DL. The lefty does not have a history of back issues, but it sounds like the Rockies are prepared to move on without him.

Anderson (back) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
Manager Walt Weiss suggested a DL stint was likely after Anderson left Tuesday's start due to back spasms, and sure enough, the left-hander will require at least a couple weeks to heal up. Anderson was cruising before leaving Tuesday, holding the Cubs to one hit through three innings, but injuries have been a recurring theme throughout the 26-year-old's career and his injury history should temper any future expectations.

Anderson, who left Tuesday's start due to back spasms, is likely bound for the 15-day DL, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. "[Anderson's] not real good," manager Walt Weiss said. "His back locked up and he doesn't look too good right now."
Anderson was shutting out the Cubs for the first three frames of the outing before his back acted up following his first pitch of the fourth inning. Setbacks such as this are all too familiar for Anderson, who has repeatedly seen his promising career interrupted by untimely injuries. The loss of Anderson is especially troublesome for the Rockies, since the lefty had probably been the best starter in their beleaguered rotation over his last four turns, allowing only three runs over 23.1 cumulative innings. With Anderson out of commission until further notice, his replacement in Tuesday's outing, Franklin Morales, will likely step back into a starting role.

Anderson left Tuesday's game with back spasms and is listed as day-to-day.
It was suspected that a back issue forced Anderson from Tuesday's game against the Cubs early in the fourth inning, and the Rockies confirmed this after the game. This is good news, as Anderson could conceivably make his next start, but he's not exactly an iron man, so owners will have to pay attention to his status throughout the week.

Anderson left Tuesday's start with an apparent back injury, the Denver Post's Nick Groke reports.
He had allowed just one hit through three innings before leaving after throwing one strike to Arismendy Alcantara to start the fourth inning. He had been fantastic over his last three starts, giving up just three runs over 20.1 innings, while striking out 18. However, Anderson is as injury-prone as they come, so this should not come as a surprise. Consider him day-to-day until we get official confirmation on Anderson's diagnosis, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him get shut down, given his track record of missing significant time due to injuries.

Anderson left Tuesday's game against the Cubs after his first pitch of the fourth inning, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
It wasn't obvious what was ailing Anderson, but he walked gingerly off the mound and right into the clubhouse in the top of the fourth. He had given up just one hit while striking out two in his first three innings. Franklin Morales replaced Anderson in the game and would likely start Sunday if Anderson is unable to take the hill.

Brett Anderson limited the Cubs to two runs over seven innings but took a no-decision, as the Rockies needed 10 innings before cinching a 6-4 victory on Wednesday.
It was a weird outing for Anderson. He allowed 11 hits, but nine were singles, and he did not issue a single walk while striking out nine. He's now allowed one run over fewer in at least six innings over each of his last three starts. Over seven starts overall since returning from the disabled list, Anderson has a 3.12 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and a 27/13 K/BB ratio. He'll match up against the Cubs again next week, this time at home.
