Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brett Anderson left Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves in the third inning with a lower leg injury, according to the Los Angeles Times. Anderson, who had his foot and ankle area examined by the trainer after he injured himself trying to field a ground ball, is questionable for Sunday's scheduled start versus the New York Mets.

Anderson struck out five and walked two while giving up four runs -- three earned -- on six hits over five innings Tuesday against the Phillies. A three-run third brought most of the damage, and Anderson was oddly effective at times with 13 swinging strikes in the outing. With 101 innings under his belt through 17 starts, Anderson has already reached his highest workload since the 2010 season with Oakland (112.1 innings). He's lined up to finish the first half for the Dodgers in a home start Sunday against the Brewers.

Anderson's next start will come Tuesday, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports. There was some thought that Anderson would move up a day given the lack of a clear starter Monday, but Don Mattingly put that question to rest.

Anderson (5-4) pitched seven strong innings Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, giving up only one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven. Anderson picked up his third straight victory, and the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks for the ninth time in the past 10 meetings. Over his past four starts, Anderson has allowed five runs in 28 innings and looks to be pitching later into games as of late. The 27-year-old will go for his fourth straight victory in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Phillies.

Anderson allowed just one run on five hits, walking one and striking out 10 over seven innings of a 7-1 win against Miami on Friday night. Anderson (4-4, 3.13 ERA) has been on quite a roll lately, having allowed just four runs over his last three starts spanning 21 innings. He's pitching deeper into games - he pitched eight innings for the first time since May of 2011 two starts back and tossed 113 pitches in this one - and he's beginning to show some of the promise he displayed before injuries derailed his career. If he can stay healthy, he should solidify his position as a reliable starter in the middle of the Dodgers' rotation.

Anderson earned his third win of the season Sunday, allowing just one run through six innings against the Giants. The 27-year-old needed just 85 pitches on the day, but was staked to a nine-run lead in the fifth inning and was lifted an inning later. Anderson has quietly become a quality piece of the Dodgers rotation and will carry a 3.29 ERA into his next scheduled start Friday against the Marlins.
