Yonder Alonso (hand) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Alonso has picked up six hits in his first 11 rehab at-bats and, most importantly, hasn't had any setbacks with his fractured hand. The first baseman has been sidelined since early June.

Yonder Alonso (hand) went 0-for-3 on Monday in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Tucson. Alonso, out since the end of May with a broken bone in his right hand, played six innings in his return to game action. He'll play again Tuesday before being reevaluated, but Padres manager Bud Black said he could be activated prior to the All-Star break.

Yonder Alonso (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson Monday. Alonso was cleared to return to game action after taking batting practice over the weekend with no issues. Barring a setback, he seems likely to rejoin the Padres' lineup by this weekend. The first baseman has been out since June 6 with a fractured right hand.

Yonder Alonso (hand) could work out and take batting practice as soon as Saturday. The Padres are sending Alonso to High-A Lake Elsinore in order to do it, which is an indication that he's close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment. If all goes well, there's a chance he could be activated prior to the All-Star break.

The Padres are hopeful that Yonder Alonso (hand) will be cleared to begin hitting in the batting cage soon. Alonso had a CT scan Monday to check the healing of his fractured right hand, but the results of the exam aren't yet known. If the scan does show sufficient healing, the first baseman will be allowed to begin hitting. Alonso has been sidelined since June 6.

Yonder Alonso (hand) isn't expected to be activated from the disabled list until the second week of July. Alonso hasn't been cleared for baseball activities yet and will need to go out on a rehab assignment before returning. It sounds like he'll be back just before the All-Star break, but the Astros could decide to play it safe and go ahead and rest him through the break.

The Padres are hoping Yonder Alonso (hand) can start baseball activities by next week. Scans and X-rays on Alonso's fractured right hand Monday showed that the first baseman's healing was coming along as scheduled. He could have the splint removed from his hand by the end of the week before beginning baseball activities by early next week. "Start playing some catch and doing some strength exercises, and from there, maybe get in the batting cage," manager Bud Black said.

Yonder Alonso (hand) hopes to be cleared to begin baseball activities on Monday after visiting a hand specialist. Alonso was recently able to remove the splint on his right hand, which has a fracture of the metacarpal on his middle finger. He'll undergo a CT scan Monday to see how the bone has healed before hopefully being cleared. "[Training staff] took it off today and they started touching it around where it was hurting," Alonso said Thursday. "[Before] it was probably an eight or nine [out of 10 on the pain scale]. But it's probably down to a three or four. It's made a significant amount of progress in the last week, week and a half."

Yonder Alonso (hand) said Friday that he hopes to return from the disabled list in three weeks. Alonso suffered a fractured hand last Friday and Padres general manager Josh Byrnes believes he could miss a month. While it's nice to see the optimism and strong desire to return, the Padres will likely play things safe. Before the injury, the 26-year-old was off to a terrific start, hitting .284/.335/.416 with six homers and 29 RBI through his first 54 games. Kyle Blanks and Jesus Guzman are likely to see the majority of the starts at first base until Alonso returns.

Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said during a radio interview Friday that Yonder Alonso could miss a month with a fractured right hand. X-rays on Alonso's hand came back clean, but the club ordered a CT scan after soreness persisted, and that exam revealed the bad news. The Padres will continue to use a combination of Kyle Blanks, Jesus Guzman and Mark Kotsay after first base while Alonso is on the shelf.
