Yonder Alonso (hand) is not expected to take any at-bats for the rest of the season. It's possible he'll play some as a defensive replacement, but Alonso's right hand is still hurting too much for him to swing a bat. Alonso hasn't played since August 30 and will end the season with a .281/.341/.368 batting line to go along with six homers and 45 RBI over 95 games.

Yonder Alonso (hand) acknowledged Monday that he might not play again this season. Alonso hit in the batting cage Monday, but is still dealing with pain in his right hand. "I'm still trying to make it happen, but it didn't feel well after I hit," said Alonso. "It might not work out this season. What's going to be horrible is that it's going to feel great a month after the season ends."

Yonder Alonso (hand) has been cleared to play defense and will likely hit in the batting cage this weekend. Alonso said Thursday that his right hand was "still a little sore" while he played catch the last few days, but he's ready to try to incorporate other activities. "I'm optimistic about it [returning]. But it's just a matter of time for this thing to heal," said Alonso.

Yonder Alonso (hand) has been slow to regain full strength in his injured right hand, and there remains no clear timetable for a potential return to the Padres lineup. Padres skipper Bud Black indicated Friday that Alonso may be able to play defensively before he's cleared to resume hitting. The 26-year-old was off to a nice start to the season, hitting .281/.341/.368 with six homers and 45 RBI in his first 95 games before hitting the DL.

Yonder Alonso was given a pain-killing injection in his injured right hand on Wednesday. Alonso suffered the hand injury last Friday on a check swing. The 26-year-old first baseman is not expected to be available for live action again for another two weeks and can be dropped in standard fantasy leagues.

Yonder Alonso (hand) hopes to return in about two weeks. Alonso injured his right hand while checking a swing last Friday. He still has some weakness, but there's no structural damage and he'll be cleared to return once the strength returns. Alonso has batted .281/.341/.368 with just six homers over 95 games this season.

Yonder Alonso will likely miss the next 7-10 days with soreness in his right hand. Alonso injured the hand checking his swing in Friday's game, the same hand in which he fractured a metacarpal bone in May. He'll have the hand scanned on Monday when the Padres return home. The broken hand has sapped much of his power this year, as he's hit just six home run in 334 at-bats.

Yonder Alonso left Friday's game in the eighth inning with a hand injury. Alonso will be reevaluated Saturday, but manager Bud Black said it's an "issue." The injury is not believed to be related to fractured hand that caused him to miss 34 games earlier this season.

Yonder Alonso drove in the Padres' only two runs with a sac fly and an RBI single in Wednesday's win over the Pirates. Offense was hard to come by in this one, as the Pirates scored their lone run on a sac fly. Alonso hasn't homered since May 19 and has just six longballs on the season, so while the .289 average is nice, he's simply not much of a fantasy option.

Padres activated 1B Yonder Alonso from the 15-day disabled list. Alonso, out since early June with a fractured hand, went 8-for-14 (.571) with two RBI during his rehab assignment. He'll bat fifth in his return Friday night against the Giants.
