Yonder Alonso (hamstring) is back in Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs. Alonso didn't start Wednesday's game due to a minor hamstring issue. It shouldn't be an issue moving forward.

Yonder Alonso is not in the Padres' lineup Tuesday due to a minor hamstring issue. Consider the first baseman day-to-day. Jesus Guzman is taking Alonso's spot in the lineup.

Yonder Alonso had another nice night at the plate on Saturday, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in a losing effort against the Marlins. The 25-year-old first baseman has been a large disappointment this season, hitting just .260 with four homers and 34 RBI on the year. His RBI double off Nathan Eovaldi in the sixth inning plated the Padres first run of the game.

Yonder Alonso went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI during Tuesday's 8-2 victory against Houston. Celebration is in order for Alonso owners every time he displays power. It hasn't happened often this season. In fact, Tuesday's pair of extra base hits were his first since July 5. After a terrible opening month to the season and a solid bounce back in May, Alonso posted an abysmal .541 OPS in June. Although he hasn't hit for a ton of power in July, Alonso has posted a great 9/6 BB/K ratio in just 39 at-bats for an encouraging .417 OBP and .853 OPS. Perhaps improved plate discipline will unleash the immense potential of his bat.

Yonder Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI during Tuesday's 9-5 victory against Arizona. Alonso began San Diego's offensive explosion by taking fellow top prospect Trevor Bauer deep in the second inning to stake the Friars to a 2-0 lead. He continued to lead the offensive onslaught throughout the evening. Alonso desperately needed a big night. After a terrible opening month to the season and a solid bounce back in May, Alonso posted an abysmal .541 OPS in June and hadn't recorded a hit in July prior to Tuesday. He's probably not ownable in 12-14 team mixed leagues, but a batter of his talent is always worth monitoring.

Yonder Alonso is not in Sunday's lineup and will miss at least one more game due to a strained knee. He had a cortisone shot after Saturday's game. "Yonder started feeling it on the last trip," said Padres manager Bud Black. "It's been nagging him. But the last couple days it got progressively worse. But it's not a disabled list situation."

Yonder Alonso's solo home run provided all the offense in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Mariners. Alonso took Hector Noesi deep in the seventh. The bomb was just his second of the season. The other came all the way back on May 11. Both came on the road. Alonso is a very talented young hitter, but won't be a legit option in 12-14 team mixed leagues until he figures out how to drive the ball out of the yard in cavernous Petco Park.

Yonder Alonso connected on his first home run as a Padre, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Phillies on Friday. Alonso finished the game 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. He's now hitting .300 on the season and has driven in 10 runs. While his power totals will be limited playing at PetCo, Alonso should be able to deliver a .300 average with decent counting stats, and that certainly has value in most mixed leagues as a fourth outfielder or corner infielder.
