CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Red Sox have "checked in" on Tim Hudson.
Heyman notes that the Sox are "big admirers" of Hudson and was told by one person familiar with the club's thinking that they "really want him." However, the Braves want to bring Hudson back, and Heyman thinks it's "a little hard to imagine" him leaving Atlanta. The Royals and Indians are also known to have interest in the veteran right-hander.

Tim Hudson (ankle) said he expects to be "totally healed" by December.
Hudson underwent ankle surgery in late July and will miss the rest of the season. The 38-year-old right-hander will likely have to settle for a one-year incentive-laden deal in free agency, but should be fully healthy for spring training in 2014.

Tim Hudson underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured fibula and deltoid ligament.
He's expected to need around four months to completely recover from the injury. A free agent at the end of the season, it's possible that the 38-year-old veteran has thrown his last pitch as a member of the Braves.

Tim Hudson will have season-ending surgery for a fractured right ankle that he suffered in Wednesday's win over the Mets.
Terrible. Hudson suffered the ailment on a gruesome play at first base when the Mets' Eric Young lunged to the bag and landed right on the pitcher's foot. He will undergo surgery once the swelling goes down. Hudson just turned 38 and will be a free agent after this season. The Braves will surely plug Brandon Beachy into his rotation spot next week.

Tim Hudson had to be carted off the field with a right foot injury after the Mets' Eric Young stepped on him at first base in Wednesday's game.
It was a gruesome injury, as Hudson's ankle looked like it might have been dislocated. Hudson, understandably, was in a ton of pain before the cart came to get him and take him off the field. It looked like a possible season-ending injury, but we'll just have to wait for further updates.
