Giants trainer Dave Groeschner expects Tim Hudson (ankle) to be on a normal throwing schedule at the beginning of spring training. He will, however, be eased into running and other aspects of spring ball. Hudson underwent surgery in late July to repair a broken ankle but will be ready to roll by the time Opening Day comes around. The 38-year-old posted a 3.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 131 1/3 innings for the Braves last season.

The 38-year-old posted a 3.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 131 1/3 innings for the Braves this past season before fracturing his ankle in July, but it's expected to be a non-factor in 2014.

Giants signed RHP Tim Hudson to a two-year, $23 million contract. The deal was first reported by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports earlier Monday, and it has now become official. The 38-year-old right-hander posted a 3.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 131 1/3 innings this past season for the Braves before undergoing surgery to repair a broken ankle. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports confirms that free agent Tim Hudson has an agreement in place with the Giants. FOX Sports' Ken Rosental says the deal is worth $23 million over the next two seasons. It's back to the Bay Area for Hudson, who spent the first six years of his major league career in Oakland. The 38-year-old right-hander posted a cool 3.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 131 1/3 innings this past summer for the Braves and should fit in well in San Francisco behind Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum. The Giants want to add one more reliable starting pitcher to that mix.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Tuesday that general manager Frank Wren has talked with free agent right-hander Tim Hudson. Hudson has already drawn interest from as many as 15 teams, so the Braves are going to have plenty of competition in their efforts to retain him. The veteran right-hander wasn't given a qualifying offer by the Braves, which should make him a more attractive target around MLB.

According to MASN's Roch Kubatko, the Orioles have had internal discussions about free agent Tim Hudson. But the veteran righty has already drawn legitimate interest from a dozen major league teams and could be priced out of Baltimore's range. Hudson, 38, posted a 3.97 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 95/36 K/BB ratio in 131 1/3 innings (21 starts) this year before fracturing his right ankle.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies have expressed interest in free agent right-hander Tim Hudson. Renck also astutely points out that with more than a dozen other teams interested in Hudson, it may be a tough sell for the Rockies to secure his services. The Braves have already indicated that they'd like to have him back, and the Red Sox, Royals and Indians are among the teams known to be courting the veteran hurler.

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan hears that there is "mutual" interest between the Red Sox and Tim Hudson. Passan notes that Hudson is "tight" with Red Sox catcher David Ross and "wants a ring." Of course, the Braves aren't too shabby, either, and they want to re-sign the veteran right-hander. Hudson is recovering from right ankle surgery but is expected to be 100 percent for spring training.

Tim Hudson had a screw removed from his surgically-repaired right ankle Thursday and will be cleared to run in couple of weeks. Hudson's recovery is going smoothly, so he shouldn't have trouble being all systems go for the beginning of spring training. The veteran right-hander has already received interest from a bunch teams on the free agent market, but there's a good chance he'll wind up back with the Braves.
