Wright (concussion) has been cleared to begin further workouts, the Boston Globe reports. While the news is encouraging, it's uncertain if Wright will pitch again this season.
EDGE Analysis
Wright underwent a battery of tests Thursday administered by head trauma specialist Dr. Micky Collins in Pittsburgh. The pitcher said he was hesitant about going to see the doctor at first, but admitted he's glad he did, saying he feels much more at ease about his condition. Wright added there's still some balance issues and he's not yet ready to take to the mound.

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.
The Red Sox will only use four starters for the final week of the first half, so they'll have Justin Masterson available as a long man out of the bullpen, rendering Wright's presence unnecessary. Wright figures to rejoin the team at some point after the All-Star break.

The Red Sox have recalled Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket, Maureen Mullen reports.
He'll replace Noe Ramirez in the Boston bullpen, likely working as a multi-inning middle reliever in the coming weeks. Wright is also candidate for the occasional spot start with the Red Sox as long as he remains on the 25-man roster, but his chances of earning a permanent place in the Boston rotation are slim.

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday, Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com reports.
The knuckleballer has picked up a couple wins since moving to the bullpen earlier this month, but he's been generally ineffective, posting a 4.43 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in seven appearances (20.1 innings). By comparison, he had a 3.91 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in four starts (23 innings). Justin Masterson (shoulder) was activated and will serve as the long man moving forward.

Wright allowed an unearned run in 2.2 innings in Thursday night's loss to the Orioles.
This was the second time this week that Wright has entered a game early after a Boston starter couldn't get deep into a game. He's kept the game within reach both times and now has a 2.70 ERA in 16.2 innings as a reliever. He's performed well for Boston, but may be the player demoted when Justin Masterson (shoulder) is ready to return.

Wright, pitching on two days rest, threw 3.1 relief innings to pick up the win Sunday against Oakland. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two in relief of Clay Buchholz.
The day began with the news that Wright, who threw 92 pitches as a starter Thursday, was being moved to the bullpen. The knuckle-baller will be Boston's long relief man out of the pen, at least until Justin Masterson (shoulder) returns from the disabled list.

Wright has been told he will be moving to the bullpen, according to Tom Caron of NESN.
The Red Sox had been working a six-man starting rotation that last two turns, but manager John Farrell is shrinking it back to the standard five-man rotation. The decision came down to Wright or Joe Kelly, with Farrell citing Kelly's ceiling as the factor that favored him over the knuckle-balling Wright.

Wright allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and zero walks while striking out two in Thursday's loss to the Twins. Wright threw four shutout innings before a fifth-inning mistake to Torii Hunter resulted in a three-run homer and came away with a no-decision.
He's been competitive in five starts since entering the rotation, but that may not be enough for him to make a sixth start. The Red Sox have been rolling six starters the last two times through the rotation, but are expected to cut back to five come early next week. Clay Buchholz, Eduardo Rodriguez, Rick Porcello and Wade Miley are locked in. The final spot comes down to Wright and Joe Kelly, who pitches Saturday.

Wright allowed three runs on five hits, walking one and striking out four over 5.2 innings of a 7-4 loss to Texas on Friday night.
Wright (2-2, 3.90 ERA) actually pitched pretty well to everyone except the Rangers' newly re-acquired Josh Hamilton who launched two knuckleballs into the seats. With Eduardo Rodriguez having pitched so well in his debut, and Joe Kelly struggling, Wright's claim to a spot in the Boston rotation is up in the air so check his status before his turn comes around again.

Wright will be pushed back to Friday night because the Red Sox are calling up Eduardo Rodriguez to make a spot start Thursday, the Boston Globe reports.
It's not set in stone that Rodriguez will get sent down after this start, so Wright or Joe Kelly could ultimately be at risk to lose a rotation or even roster spot if the Red Sox keep Rodriguez up.
