Wright will make his spring debut Saturday when he starts in a split-squad game against the Orioles, the Boston Globe reports.
Wright's itching to get up to the major leagues and help Boston as a starter or as an innings eater out of pen who can spot start when needed, but the Red Sox view him as a depth starter at Triple-A Pawtucket. The knuckleballer has been effective at the big-league level, posting a 3.67 ERA in 10 games for Boston since 2013. It's easy to envision Wright being called up to Boston in 2015 at some point -- Clay Buchholz has a five-year streak of spending at least three weeks on the disabled list, Joe Kelly has never thrown more than 124 in the majors, and Justin Masterson is coming off an injury-filled 2014. For now, he'll need to bide his time at Pawtucket.

Wright struck out four and walked two while allowing two unearned runs on four hits over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Friday night.
Getting a spot start following the Red Sox's decision to move Rubby De La Rosa and Brandon Workman to the bullpen, Wright had little difficulty navigating a Yankees lineup that did not have a single member of the Opening Day lineup in it. Wright pitched well in 15 starts at Pawtucket (3.41 ERA, 1.137 WHIP) this season and he fared well during his time in Boston as well (3.38 ERA, 1.188 WHIP entering Friday), but it remains to be seen if he'll have to go elsewhere with his knuckleball to get a lengthy look as a back end rotation option in 2015.

Wright is likely to start Friday night against the Yankees, the Boston Globe reports.
With the decision to move Rubby De La Rosa and Brandon Workman to the bullpen for the remainder of the season, Red Sox manager John Farrell is likely to use Wright. It will be his first start for Boston after making 15 starts at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Wright pitched five innings of scoreless relief in Sunday's loss to Toronto.
Wright came on in relief of Rubby De La Rosa and shut down the Blue Jays, allowing only two hits while striking out six and walking one. Recently called up from Triple-A Pawtucket, Wright could be in line for a spot start or two as we near the end of the season, and he certainly didn't hurt his case with Sunday's outing.

Wright was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday.
Wright was the first of the September call-ups for the Red Sox, putting their active roster at 26. he will add an extra arm to the bullpen for September, though the team has no playoff hopes and are playing for next season at this point. With that in mind, September may be an audition for Wright, who will attempt to make the 25-man roster out of spring training next season.

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
In two separate stints with the Red Sox, Wright made one appearance, Sunday against the Astros, in which he gave up one run on four hits and no walks to go with four strikeouts. He'll continue to provide organization depth, potentially as a starter during the stretch run.

Wright pitched four innings of relief in Sunday's loss to the Astros. He allowed one run on four hits with no walks while striking out four.
The knuckleballing Wright, who has been a starter all season at Triple-A and Double-A, was called up to give the bullpen some insurance and he was needed when Joe Kelly was pulled after four innings (seven runs, seven hits, six walks). We suspect Wright will be sent back down to Pawtucket before Monday's game.

Wright was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday.
Wright has pitched well in Triple-A this season, posting a 2.76 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 13 starts this season. He will likely return to the Red Sox's bullpen to serve as a long reliever as he did earlier in August.

Red Sox activated RHP Steven Wright from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Wright is still recovering from late-January surgery for a sports hernia. The 29-year-old righty posted a 5.40 ERA over his first 13 1/3 major league innings last season and is merely organizational relief depth for Boston.
