The New York Post confirms that the Mets are interested in bringing back Mike Pelfrey.
Pelfrey is six months removed from Tommy John surgery and will be be sidelined for the early part of 2013 season. The Mets are expected to non-tender him this winter, but haven't ruled out re-signing him on an incentive-based, one-year deal. In addition to Pelfrey, the New York Post expects Andres Torres to be brought back at a reduced salary.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York writes that the Mets will non-tender Mike Pelfrey this winter.
Pelfrey is coming off Tommy John surgery and is due a raise from the $5.6875 million he made this season, so it's an easy call to cut him loose. The Mets are interested in bringing him back, but he'll likely go elsewhere on an incentive-laden one-year deal so that he can reestablish his value.

Mets transferred RHP Mike Pelfrey from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's a procedural move in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Vinny Rottino. Pelfrey, of course, is done for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery Tuesday.

Mike Pelfrey (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery Tuesday.
Not unexpected news, but the decision was made official following a visit with Dr. James Andrews. Pelfrey will miss the rest of the 2012 season and will likely be non-tendered this offseason. As such, there's a real chance he has thrown his final pitch as a member of the Mets. The 2005 first-round pick has a 4.36 ERA over 896 1/3 innings in the big leagues.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News heard from a Mets source Thursday morning that talk of Mike Pelfey (elbow) being in no pain is part of a "company line"
In other words, Pelfrey is actually in a good deal of discomfort. He's discussing his options with a variety of doctors but seems likely to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery to repair his partially torn UCL. The Mets are expected to call up Chris Schwinden on Friday to take the vacant spot in their starting rotation.

Though the Mets haven't made a final decision, Mike Puma of the New York Post was told that Mike Pelfrey will likely receive an injection in his right elbow and see how it responds.
It could just be delaying the inevitable Tommy John surgery, but it might be worth a shot to see if Pelfrey responds. The Mets believe the right-hander may have a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament, and they've sent the MRI results to Dr. James Andrews. It's not clear at this point what his diagnosis was.

The Mets have sent the MRI results on Mike Pelfrey's right elbow to Dr. James Andrews.
Pelfrey was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with what was termed as "swelling in his right elbow," but the team believes he may have a partially torn UCL. The 28-year-old right-hander will likely get a couple of options, but season-ending Tommy John surgery appears likely. Chris Schwinden is expected to replace him in the rotation Friday.

Mike Pelfrey could travel to see Dr. James Andrews regarding his elbow injury.
It's possible Andrews could just be sent the film from Pelfrey's injury. Andy Martino of the New York Daily News says the Mets "consider season-ending surgery a solid possibility," but they are still hoping rest will be enough. Chris Schwinden will replace Pelfrey in the rotation this weekend.

According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, the Mets believe Mike Pelfrey has a partially torn UCL.
The best way to repair such an injury is through Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, which would sideline Pelfrey through the early part of the 2013 season. The 28-year-old right-hander is getting a second opinion, but it sure sounds like he's done for the year. Chris Schwinden is expected to join the Mets' starting rotation on Friday in Colorado.
