The Tigers gave Mike Pelfrey fits Sunday, as he allowed five runs on five hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings. Pelfrey was able to strike out five, a total he has bettered just once this season, but he failed to pitch six innings for the eighth time in 10 starts. The righty has been predictably terrible this season with a 6.85 ERA and 1.76 WHIP and can't be trusted next week even in a nice matchup against the Mariners.

Mike Pelfrey yielded three runs in six innings Friday against the Orioles as part of a no-decision. Pelfrey tossed five shutout frames before he gave up three runs on three doubles in his final inning of work. He actually left in line for the victory, but Josh Roenicke coughed up the lead in the very next frame. Pelfrey struck out one and walked one in the no-decision and owns an ugly 6.03 ERA through seven starts. To be fair, he's been better of late, but there's not a lot to get excited about from a fantasy perspective.

Mike Pelfrey had his strongest start of the season Sunday, spinning six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven in a 4-2 victory over the Yankees. Pelfrey's fastball velocity was up a bit, and it showed as he whiffed the same number of batters that he had in his first five starts combined. The right-hander permitted just four hits on the day and walked one. It's an encouraging step forward for Pelfrey, but with a 6.35 ERA and 1.69 WHIP, it's still hard to trust him next weekend against the Orioles.

Mike Pelfrey allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday as the Marlins beat the Twins. Pelfrey was lucky to escape with as little damage as he did, as the Marlins had nine hits off the big right-hander. After a decent first turn, Pelfrey hasn't looked good his last three starts and now has a 7.94 ERA on the year. Pelfrey's next start, Monday against the Tigers, has the makings of a disaster for the Twins.

Mike Pelfrey allowed six runs in two innings in the Twins' loss to the Royals on Tuesday. The 29-year-old had been good his first time out, allowing only two unearned runs in 5 1/3 innings. That was not the case Tuesday, when Royals batters put up a five spot in the first inning. The big righty is a marginal play even in AL-only leagues as he continues his return from Tommy John surgery. That return will continue in his next start against the Angels on Monday.

Mike Pelfrey gave up two unearned runs in an 8-2 win over the Tigers on Thursday. It was his first regular season start since Tommy John surgery last April. And it was a pretty typical Pelfrey start, as he scattered five hits and two walks while striking out one and inducing 13 ground balls. He threw a total of 97 pitches, but should be ready to pass the 100-pitch threshold soon enough. "Big Pelf" may not have much fantasy value, but he should be a decent innings-eater for Minnesota.

Mike Pelfrey surrendered four runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings against the Red Sox on Saturday. Pelfrey turned in three good starts and three bad ones on his way to amassing a 6.38 ERA this spring. He'll probably be a respectable innings-eater for the Twins, but we're not expecting him to have any fantasy value.

Mike Pelfrey was pounded for five runs in two innings by the Red Sox on Thursday. Pelfrey was terrific against the same team on Friday. Today, he was scheduled for four innings, but he had to be pulled after throwing 58 pitches in two. The nicest thing that can be said is that he got his work in.

Mike Pelfrey delivered an outstanding performance in Friday's victory over the Red Sox, scattering two hits and a walk over three scoreless innings of work. Pelfrey also racked up five strikeouts in the outing. He now owns a 3.52 ERA and 7/2 K/BB ratio through 7 2/3 innings this spring, and looks healthy enough to open the season in the Twins rotation. The 29-year-old is just two years removed from a 15-win campaign for the Mets, and could be worth a flier in the later rounds of fantasy drafts, despite his lack of strikeouts.

Mike Pelfrey bounced back from a rough first outing to shut out the Rays for three innings Sunday. Pelfrey allowed one hit, walked one and struck out none. Barring a setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, he'll be in the Opening Day rotation.
