Josh Tomlin (elbow) played catch Friday.
Tomlin made it through a bullpen session Thursday without any issues and is expected to throw another one Saturday. Barring any setbacks, he hopes to pitch in a doubleheader against the Twins on September 24. He can't be traded in fantasy leagues, though, even with the favorable matchup.

Josh Tomlin (elbow) will likely be limited to 3-to-4 innings of work if he makes a start during Cleveland's September 24 doubleheader with the Twins.
Tomlin threw a successful bullpen session on Thursday, and will throw another this weekend. If that goes well, he'll throw a simulated game, which would be his final hurdle before making a start. He's not worth keeping around in any format.

Josh Tomlin (elbow) threw a bullpen session Thursday.
If the right-hander wakes up Friday without any abnormal pain or discomfort in his elbow, he could be cleared to return to the Cleveland rotation for a doubleheader start on September 24 against the Twins. Tomlin, 26, has posted a cool 4.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 26 starts this season.

Josh Tomlin (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Thursday.
Tomlin hasn't pitched in a game since August 24 and might still be a week away. The 26-year-old righty had a 4.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP through 26 starts before developing inflammation in his right elbow late last month.

Josh Tomlin underwent an MRI on Monday, which confirmed the original diagnosis of a strained right elbow.
Tomlin was placed on the disabled list last week with right elbow soreness. He hasn't ruled himself out for the rest of the season, but he's a longshot to return.

Josh Tomlin (elbow) will not throw for two weeks before being re-examined.
"If he is asymptomatic at that time, we'll start an expedited return-to-throw program," Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff said. "His presentation, as well as our position as a team, will guide that process." It appears we won't see the right-hander again until the end of September, if at all.

Indians placed RHP Josh Tomlin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 25, with right elbow soreness.
It's possible it's a phantom injury, as manager Manny Acta only said previously that he thought Tomlin was fatigued. Regardless, he'll be sidelined at least until September 9. It's not clear at this point who will assume Tomlin's spot in the rotation.

Indians manager Manny Acta said Josh Tomlin (undisclosed injury) is a candidate to be placed on the disabled list.
It's not clear at this point what ailment Tomlin is dealing with, though it's possible it could be a phantom injury created in order to allow him to work through his struggles away from a big league mound. Tomlin has posted a 5.28 ERA through five August outings.

Josh Tomlin might be scratched from his next scheduled start due to an undisclosed injury.
The scratching would probably have more to do with Tomlin's recent struggles than anything else. He has registered a rough 5.28 ERA through five August outings and posted a 4.50 ERA across five starts in July.

Josh Tomlin was undone by the longball Friday, serving up six hits - including three homers -- and four runs over 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers.
Tomlin was unscored upon through the first five innings, but a two-run shot from Austin Jackson in the sixth and solo blasts from Alex Avila and Jhonny Peralta in the seventh did him in. We certainly shouldn't be surprised, as the right-hander had already allowed 20 dingers coming into the game. While his peripherals remain unimpressive, Tomlin has remained effective much longer than we anticipated, as he sports a solid 4.01 ERA and 1.03 WHIP on the year. He'll face the Mariners next week.
