Josh Tomlin allowed one run on three hits and two walks in five innings of Monday's loss to the Reds.
Tomlin also struck out a pair in bringing his Cactus League ERA to a final resting place of 6.18. That ugly number, as well as his 15/4 K/BB ratio, was compiled over 27 2/3 things. One of the most obvious regression candidates in all of baseball, Tomlin isn't worth rostering in 10-12 team mixed leagues.

Josh Tomlin turned in a decent outing against the Cubs Wednesday, permitting two runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out six over 5 2/3 innings.
The six strikeouts are a surprise, but unfortunately the nine hits are not. Tomlin pitched over his head for much of last season and holds a 7.15 ERA this spring. We'd avoid him in fantasy leagues.

Josh Tomlin turned in a better outing Friday, yielding two runs in five innings versus the Angels.
Tomlin had allowed 17 runs -- 14 earned -- and 26 hits in 12 innings, so this was quite a step in the right direction. Despite his struggles, his rotation spot isn't in any jeopardy. Still, we're not recommending him in AL-only leagues.

Josh Tomlin allowed six runs in four innings Sunday in a loss to the Royals.
Tomlin has now surrendered 17 runs -- 14 earned -- in his last three games. The 27-year-old is looking more like the pitcher he was from June-August of last season than he was in April and May.

Josh Tomlin was pummeled for the second straight start Tuesday, giving up seven runs -- four earned -- on eight hits over three innings against the Rangers.
He served up one home run and didn't strike anyone out. After a nice first outing, Tomlin has now surrendered 11 runs -- eight earned -- over six innings in his last two trips to the mound. He did end last season on the DL with a strained elbow, but the Indians have given no indication that it's been an issue this spring.

Josh Tomlin was shelled by the Angels Thursday, giving up four runs on six hits over three innings of work.
Three of the six hits he allowed went for extra bases. When a guy like Tomlin that relies on pinpoint command isn't on, he'll get blasted even in a spring game. The 27-year-old right-hander finished last season with a 4.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 165 1/3 innings, but we'd bet on those numbers falling back in 2012.

Indians activated RHP Josh Tomlin from the 60-day disabled list.
Tomlin was shut down in late August due to an elbow strain. He's fully expected to be ready for the start of the 2012 season and is already locked into a rotation spot.

Indians transferred RHP Josh Tomlin from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's just a procedural move in order to get Jerad Head on the roster. Tomlin had already been ruled out for the season due to a strained elbow, though his elbow is feeling much better of late and he likely could have returned if he had more time. He finished the year with a 4.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 165 1/3 innings this season.

Indians manager Manny Acta said Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Fausto Carmona and Josh Tomlin are all locked into rotation spots for 2012, with the last spot up for grabs.
The only one of the four that we thought might not necessarily be locked in was Tomlin, though with a 4.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 165 1/3 innings this season, he's probably earned it despite ending the year with elbow issues. Jeanmar Gomez has certainly put himself into the conversation for the No. 5 spot with his strong close to the year. Acta, though, wouldn't mind the team adding another pitcher. "Why not? You never have enough pitching," said Acta.

Josh Tomlin (elbow) is done for the season.
Mitch Talbot will rejoin the Indians on Saturday to take over the vacant starting rotation spot. Tomlin's elbow is improving, but the out-of-contention Indians don't want to push it. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a solid 4.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 165 1/3 innings this season.
