Taillon reported no symptoms or soreness Wednesday after getting hit in the head by a comebacker during his start against the Brewers on Tuesday night, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
For now, Taillon is still being monitored under the concussion protocol, but all signs point to him being available for his next scheduled start assuming that nothing surfaces in the coming days.

The Pirates have not given Taillon, who threw six innings in his first outing since June 29 on Tuesday, a specific innings count for the remainder of the season, CBS Radio in Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
Speaking on the Pirates postgame show, Taillon, said the goal is for him to complete the entire season -- rather than pitching to an innings limit before shutting things down. He's thrown 95.2 innings between Triple-A and Pittsburgh in 2016 after missing both 2014 and 2015. As a result, the promising righty will likely continue getting extended breaks in between starts.

Taillon stayed in Tuesday's game against Milwaukee after very scary moment where he took a 105 mph comebacker off the back of his head in the second inning. He gave up just one run on five hits and zero walks while striking out three over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
It was incredible that Taillon remained in the game after being examined by the training staff, and even more impressive that he went on to post a quality start after the scary incident. That said, he left after throwing just 65 pitches (44 strikes), so the comebacker likely contributed to the decision to pull him while he was dominating the Brewers. The Pirates will likely release a statement about Taillon's health after Tuesday's game, but the decision to leave him in presumably means he was not displaying concussion symptoms during the initial evaluation.

Taillon was officially reinstated from the DL on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Taillon will come off the DL to make his scheduled start Tuesday against Milwaukee. Taillon figures to remain in the rotation going forward, especially with the recent move of Jon Niese to the bullpen.

Taillon (shoulder) is listed as the probable starter for Tuesday's series opener against the Brewers, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the days following the All-Star game, Taillon described himself as feeling "healthy" and "fresh," suggesting a return to the mound likely wasn't far away. Sunday's report seems to confirm that notion, as the team will waste no time getting the young right-hander on the mound as soon as he's first eligible. He should be in for a full-time rotation spot as long as he can handle it, as lefty Jon Niese was recently demoted to the bullpen.

Taillon (shoulder) will throw a normal bullpen session Saturday, the Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Biertempfel reports. "I feel extremely healthy, extremely fresh, extremely encouraged," Taillon said Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
This is excellent news, as it suggests Taillon is almost ready to be activated from the DL and rejoin the big league rotation. It would not be surprising to see him start either Tuesday or Wednesday next week against the Brewers, now that Jon Niese has been demoted to the bullpen. Taillon's two plus pitches (fastball and curveball) have yet to result in big-time strikeout numbers over 28 big league innings, but his pinpoint command has been evident (4.4 percent walk rate), which separates him from many of the other top pitching prospects in the game.

Taillon has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder fatigue.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon has been pitching well this year, with a 3.86 ERA and 4.2 K/BB in his first five MLB starts. But considering he has already thrown 89.2 innings this season (including the minors) and has never thrown more than 150 in a single campaign, it's unsurprising the Pirates aren't going to push him if he's feeling any pain or discomfort at all in his shoulder. We'll keep an eye out for any more details on the injury, but given the description of fatigue, it sounds like he'll have a chance to return by his first eligible day of July 15.

Taillon credits a newly-found two-seam sinking fastball for adding to an already impressive pitching arsenal, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
He's thrown his two-seamer 40 percent of the time over his first five big league starts. "A couple starts into Triple-A this year, I realized it could be a weapon," Taillon said. "And then, one of my last starts in Triple-A, they were saying, 'We'd like to see you maybe play with throwing it more.' I just threw it more, trusted it and ran with it. No looking back after that." Considering Taillon really just started throwing the pitch two months ago, his ceiling might be even higher than previously thought.

Taillon allowed one run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts over six innings Wednesday against the Mariners to improve to 2-1 this season.
EDGE Analysis
After lasting just four innings in each of his previous two starts, Taillon rebounded with six innings of one-run ball at Seattle. The 24-year-old rookie lines up for two starts against division rivals next week -- at St. Louis on Tuesday before a home start against the Cubs on Sunday.

Taillon was saddled with a no-decision Friday versus the Dodgers, surrendering eight hits, four earned runs and a walk over four innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old right-hander fired 70 pitches over his time on the mound, with 43 of those crossing the strike zone. He fell behind often, notching first-pitch strikes on only eight of 20 hitters that he faced, and coaxed just six swinging strikes overall. One positive was that Taillon did keep the ball in the park after being touched up for three homers versus the Cubs in his last start, which was one of only two differences between the stat line he generated in that game and Friday's outing. The other was decidedly less encouraging, as Taillon only managed to record a pair of whiffs after mowing down five in his prior trip to the mound. The heralded rookie will try again for his second major league victory versus the Mariners next Wednesday.
