Taillon stayed in Tuesday's game against Milwaukee after very scary moment where he took a 105 mph comebacker off the back of his head in the second inning. He gave up just one run on five hits and zero walks while striking out three over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
It was incredible that Taillon remained in the game after being examined by the training staff, and even more impressive that he went on to post a quality start after the scary incident. That said, he left after throwing just 65 pitches (44 strikes), so the comebacker likely contributed to the decision to pull him while he was dominating the Brewers. The Pirates will likely release a statement about Taillon's health after Tuesday's game, but the decision to leave him in presumably means he was not displaying concussion symptoms during the initial evaluation.
