Taillon was hit hard in Sunday's loss to the Cubs, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk in just four innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie was excellent through his first two starts, but he came crashing down to earth Sunday, allowing three home runs through the third inning and running his pitch count up to 85 before being pulled after the fourth. Taillon's ERA rose to a still respectable 3.50 after the rough outing, and he will look to get back on track in a more favorable matchup versus the Dodgers at home on Friday.

Taillon earned his first major-league victory Tuesday, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out five over eight shutout innings in a 4-0 win.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon no-hit the Mets for six innings before hanging a seventh-inning curve ball to Curtis Granderson, who sandwiched a seeing-eye single between infielders Jordy Mercer and Josh Harrison. Taillon threw 91 pitches (including 61 strikes), keeping New York off balance with three pitches. He made a spot start with Gerrit Cole (triceps) placed on the disabled list, but it's hard envisioning Pittsburgh sending him back to Triple-A.

Taillon has been confirmed as Tuesday's starter against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates had listed Taillon as the expected starter earlier Tuesday, but their lineup card confirms that the talented young righty will be on the mound for the series opener at Citi Field. Taillon struck out three while walking two and allowing three earned runs in his 6.0 inning debut against the Mets last week.

Taillon was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and he is scheduled to start against the Mets on Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates' top pitching prospect will rejoin the team Tuesday after making his big league debut in a spot start last week. Interestingly, his second career start Tuesday will come against the same Mets squad he faced a week ago, but the Mets will be without the likes of Neil Walker and Michael Conforto for this matchup. Taillon was recalled to take the roster spot of the injured Gerrit Cole (triceps), so his stock in season-long formats is on the uptick given that he'll likely be up for more than one start.

GM Neal Huntington said Sunday that Juan Nicasio won't pitch Tuesday, leaving the door open for Taillon to start.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio threw 42 pitches Friday, leading to speculation Taillon will get the nod in New York. It was thought that Taillon could start Thursday in place of Cole. Either way, it looks as though the promising right-handed rookie will make his second start for Pittsburgh in the coming week.

Taillon could pitch Thursday in New York if the Pirates place Gerrit Cole (triceps) on the disabled list, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon is expected to start Monday at Triple-A, so if he does pitch for Indy then the Pirates would likely throw Francisco Liriano on Thursday against the Mets. Cole is expected to miss his next start, but it's still unknown whether he'll need a stint on the DL.

Taillon was optioned back to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The second overall pick in the 2010 draft made his major league debut Wednesday against the Mets, tossing six innings and allowing three runs on six hits. While the 24-year-old figures to return to the Pirates at some point later in the year, he'll head back to the rotation at Indianapolis for the time being. In a corresponding move, the Pirates recalled Kyle Lobstein from Triple-A.

In his first career start, Taillon tossed six innings, allowing three runs, six hits and two walks while striking out three against the Mets. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon held the Mets scoreless through three, showing poise as he worked with men on base in each of the innings. After inducing a double-play to clear the bases in the fourth, it looked like the rookie right-hander was about to side-step his way through another inning. Unfortunately, Taillon gave up a two-out double, then served up Ty Kelly's first career homer -- and, just like that the game was tied. The Pirates took the lead in the bottom half of the frame, but for the second straight inning, Taillon was unable to keep the Mets off the board as they tied the game. After pitching a scoreless sixth, Taillon's big day was done and he had logged a quality start. He's long been a top pitching prospect, but his status in the rotation moving forward is uncertain.

Taillon tossed six innings against the Mets in his MLB debut Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three. He received no decision.
EDGE Analysis
The No. 2 pick in the 2010 draft has been almost untouchable in Triple-A this year, and though he fell short of dominating the Mets, he still left this game in line for a victory before the bullpen blew it for him. The question for Taillon now is what the Pirates will do moving forward -- this was really a spot start more than anything else, but with Jeff Locke and Juan Nicasio hardly excelling at the back end of the rotation, there's room for the rookie to push one of them into the bullpen. Either way, his upside makes him well worth holding onto in fantasy.

Taillon was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday and will start against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The former first-round pick owns a 2.04 ERA and 0.82 WHIP through ten starts at the Triple-A level this season and will now make his Pirates debut. He has a solid matchup against a Mets lineup that ranks 28th in the MLB in runs scored with an average of just 3.67 runs per game.
