DeGrom threw off a mound earlier this week at the Mets' spring training complex without any issues, The NY Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
He had surgery in September on the ulnar nerve in his elbow, and his recovery has gone as well as the Mets could have hoped. "Since I've had the nerve moved, I haven't had any of the pain that was there, so I would call it a success so far,'' deGrom said. "It started with some tingling in my fingers. Then it turned into a sharp pain. I don't know if it's because it was getting aggravated more, but that's what was happening." The 28-year-old has yet to throw 200 innings in a big league season, but assuming his arm holds up, a Cy Young-worthy campaign is entirely possible in 2017.

DeGrom agreed to a one-year, $4.05 million deal with the Mets on Friday, avoiding arbitration, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal includes some performance bonuses that would allow deGrom to top the $4.05 million figure. This was the highest base salary ever for a starting pitcher in his first arbitration-eligible year who did not qualify for the ERA title in the previous season. Of course, deGrom is a pretty special pitcher, and projects to offer SP2-level production in 2017.

DeGrom (elbow) said Friday that his right arm feels great and he will begin throwing soon, the New York Times' James Wagner reports.
EDGE Analysis
The discomfort that led to his ulnar nerve being operated on in late September is all gone, which is great news for owners considering him heading into 2017 drafts. DeGrom, who is arbitration eligible for the first time this winter, also noted that the Mets have not approached him about a contract extension.

DeGrom (elbow) underwent successful surgery on his ulnar nerve Wednesday and he is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Though this was obviously an unfortunate way for deGrom's season to end, his timetable to return for spring training is a best-case scenario. Given that pitchers undergoing elbow surgery at this point in the year can usually be in jeopardy of missing the beginning of the following season, it's great news that deGrom will be ready when pitchers and catchers report over the winter. The Mets will ride with a rotation featuring Noah Syndergaard, Bartolo Colon, Seth Lugo, Robert Gsellman, and Gabriel Ynoa for the playoff push.

DeGrom (elbow) will undergo surgery on his ulnar nerve later this week, thus ending his season, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was a very slim chance that deGrom could push off the surgery long enough in order to assist the Mets bullpen during the postseason if they made it that far, but the Mets have decided to close the book on his 2016 campaign and get him healthy for next season. The expected recovery time for this procedure is three months, so as long as everything goes as planned, the right-hander should be recovered in time for spring training.

DeGrom injury is a pinched ulnar nerve in his right elbow, which will require surgery, sidelining him for three months. A determination as to when he will have the operation has not yet been made, as there is the slim chance he may still pitch this season, if the Mets advance far in the playoffs, Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The surgical procedure will remove scar tissue that has developed around the nerve, pinching it, a situation that is somewhat common following Tommy John surgery, which deGrom underwent in October 2010. DeGrom won't injure the arm additionally by pitching, as an MRI showed no damage to the ligament, but the uncertainty and probability of a flare up likely will result in the operation happening sooner rather than later.

DeGrom (elbow) has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday and is considered unlikely to return this season, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gabriel Ynoa has been tabbed for Sunday's start with deGrom still battling issues with the ulnar nerve in his pitching arm. General manager Sandy Alderson said deGrom will likely need surgery, but he said it won't be a significant procedure, so Tommy John seems to be off the table. It's uncertain at this point if deGrom will face any limitations at the start of spring training.

DeGrom (forearm) will start Sunday against Minnesota, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom has been sidelined with forearm inflammation all month, an injury that's always scary for starters considering how often we see it eventually lead to Tommy John surgery. He probably won't be able to go terribly deep -- his longest bullpen session this month has been 35 pitches -- but it wasn't clear if he'd be able to return this season at all, so this is great news for the Mets.

DeGrom (forearm) is being considered to start Sunday's game against the Twins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets may need a fifth starter over the weekend after casting Rafael Montero off of the rotation, and deGrom could step in if the Mets deem him ready. There's also speculation that he could piggyback the game with Steven Matz (shoulder), but the whole situation should become clearer as the weekend approaches.

DeGrom (forearm) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Monday and could be used in relief by the Mets as early as late this week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom might return to the team's rotation before the end of the year. But the Mets may ease him back to active duty through reief appearances before he progresses to starting. If deGrom has no setbacks from Monday's effort, he will toss another bullpen session Wednesday and then return to active duty.
